as breifly mentioned in party chat I did pull Thunderlord from the Nightfall earlier, one of the only exotics I was missing. To be honest, while it is a really good weapon, I don't see it getting much use
Thunderlord was my reward from my first Valus Ta'aurc NF about 6 weeks ago. I don't use it much either but it hits REALLY hard, more like a scout rifle than a machine gun if you go lightly on the trigger. I've unlocked all the perks on it but to be honest the one that increases the rate of fire when holding down the trigger rarely kicks in since stuff is long dead by that point. I'm looking forward to using it though when we get another NF with arc burn.

Thunderlord hits hard? Jolders is even more so ; on level 2 Vandals in patrol, Thunderlord was doing around 220 precision, jolders around 275, though granted jolders is at 331 attack and thunderlord is still at 307 so that gap may close a little.

For those of you still looking for black hammer or Hunger of crota, apparently Special and heavy weapons don't drop on HM. Link: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/84739454/0/0/...

Looking to do a full Crota HM tonight and also have a crota hm Crota checkpoint - let me know if you want it. Link for Crota HM fire team: https://www.the100.io/game/73717

Starting at 7:30 but ideally looking for a swordbearer at this point. How's your swordbearing?

On that note I'm looking for some swordbearer training. I'm working on getting my hunter to 32. Just need a few more pieces. Anyone got any advice/tips?

I stay clear of swordbearing. Performance anxiety hahaa. I rather just do my bit and not get in other peoples way sort of thing.

House of Wolves confirmed release date: 19th May.

Only another month of trying to find something to do in the game to fill the gap then! frown

I've done it a couple of times, with varying degrees of success. It's a lot of fun, but I know what you mean about performance anxiety - the role is so vital for any attempt on Crota that a sword bearer can make or break the team. A good sword bearer can carry a poor team through pretty much single-handedly, but equally a bad sword bearer will make it all but impossible, no matter how well the rest of the team are co-ordinated. In fact, it's probably my biggest criticism of that raid mechanic, putting so much emphasis on an individual in what is, by its very nature, the largest co-operative challenge in the game.

Being the guy that screwed up is not a responsibility anyone wants, and that is without taking into account all the bugs / glitches that both raids still suffer from!

Sweet and coincidentally I have that week off work too! Might get a little ahead of the curve for this expansion rather than playing catch up like last time

The trailer was really good.

Now, I'm planning to get all my factions ranks to the point where they need just one more bounty to level up, then turn them all in just after HoW launches. Hopefully that will give me instant HoW gear. I don't have the week off, sadly, but I'm hoping that Xur may finally sell the mighty Gjallarhorn in an effort to tempt back players just prior to the expansion. Please...?

Confirmed no raid for HoW...

And if this image is anything to go by, VoG weapons will be getting an upgrade to the new max, so presumably all weapons will.

That doesn't necessarily confirm there's no raid, just that they haven't announced it yet. Surely even bungie realise that without a raid the expansion will be done with in days for many people?

It does, and I quote -

'House of Wolves will not have a Raid activity. We didn't make this decision lightly. Our team has been humbled by the reception of Raids in Destiny and we are creating a new Raid for a release later this year'.

I reckon the fact that the Prison of Elders is for a 3 man fireteam only means it is basically horde mode...

...which makes me happy. thumbup

I think I'll come back to Destiny in the week before the release just to get to grips with it again/rank up the vendors ready for the new gear. smile

Don't get greedy. Learn and judge the timings, and only take out of him what you think you'll get away with. The ledge/3 whack method is easiest, but the Hunter invis is much more effective. I watched a couple of live streams from the PS app when I was bored, and some people seem to make a career out of raiding and streaming, good to watch their techniques.
Push forward whilst whacking and a measured button press results in a quicker animation than mashing the button.
The nature of it is such that you have to learn the ropes with an audience. Get a good team who'll accommodate you and there should be no stress. Run a sword practice run with a few of you who want to have a go.

Disagree entirelysmile If Crota doesn't go down consistently/at all, you're screwed. A good sword bearer will maximise damage to Crota, but cannot carry the rest through imo. Speckle and I have had a few late night raids with randoms and I suspect he has the same opinion.

Me too! Although looking at Digi's post, I'm not sure it matters now.

Well that's fked it. To have no 6 man content, and specifically no raid could well see me not bothering with this one and waiting for the big end of year DLC(I'm pretty sure this is just big talk and I'll succumb, but feeling the need to grind new gear, but no new raid? Hhhhmmmmm).

I agree. But £20 for a horde mode and a couple of strikes? I'm not convinced. As 1 of a few different modes....sure, but not to be the content itself.

The more the merrier, and 6 seems like a good number and makes it more of an occasion, losing that aspect seems like a mistake to me. The content seems to get weaker with every new addition. It might however turn out to be a triumph. Fingers crossed.

Oh I agree- 6 man teams is to be preferred.

BUT, if I had the choice between another (hashed) raid made artificially more difficult by a level increase, and that can be beaten solo in >30 minutes or a whole new game mode, I'd choose the latter.

I'm partly basing this in the hope that the Prison of Elders is a horde mode. This mode in Halo Reach (firefight?!) was brilliant. That was only 4 players but Bungie did a great job with it.

I'll reserve judgment and as I've already paid for it, I will be playing it but I'm very disappointed that there isn't to be a new raid. As I've come to appreciate, raiding is the best thing about this game for me or more accurately getting into a fireteam and the associated banter come success or failure.

Perhaps there will be something in there that will replace it (this horde mode, not even sure what that is?) but I was really looking forward to being there at the start to work out the raid mechanics from scratch with like minded folks, oh well frown

I wonder if they will tweak VoG with either another level of difficulty commensurate with the weapon damage increase or maybe with different raid mechanics? Probably not as HoW releases but maybe as a patch later on once the initial interest wanes a bit. Pure speculation on my behalf there, but they need to do something to get people back in there I would have thought.

Interesting that they look as though they are upgrading existing weapons presumably because a) they haven't got enough new or unique ones for the DLC b) appreciate that some of the best weapons out there are already in the game

Vision of Confluence, you are back in the game my friend biggrin Now, where's that Fatebringer again ...

For those doing the NF / weeklies this evening, be aware that they are pushing out patch 1.1.2 during the morning Pacific time (so about 6pm UK time). This is the vault space update (and other things no doubt). I can't see if it will require a boot and restart or whether it will allow you to continue if you are already in there.

If anyone is in the same boat, I'll be on over lunchtime and will be looking to do the NF / weeklies then if possible.
