hehe Thanks for that - make me chuckle.

Ebony armour is my character's look of choice - complete ebony armour set (with a mod that makes all helmets open face), ebony bow, ebony arrows. Looks badass.

I agree that dragon armour looks rubbish.
I'm in Dragon plate armour and it suits my argonian "Doug" quite well but agree it's a bit cack looking. I like full face helmets and that, ebony is hard to come by for me still, and I might save that to make daedric armour. Dwarvern is my favourite looks wise as you look like a tank

FFS, anyone else a bit gutted with dragon armour!?!?!

And to make matters worse, I can't just zip across from Dragon and add daedric and ebony with my perks points.....
Did you not look to see what the armour looked like before you spent the perk points to be able to make it?

I would have thought how you are playing your carature would dictate whether they went the light or heavy armour route from the start of the game. Stealthy archer/assasin is not good with heavy armour, a warrior is not going to use light armour.

I wouldn't switch light for heavy or visa versa on either my two caratures.

My low level thief/archer has no smithing perks, yet is tooling around in a full set of Elven light armour mostly enchanted (Dark Brotherhood clothes for sneeking) . Weapons wise, enchanted ebony bow, daedric arrows and the Blade of Woe and Elven shield for backup. Either bought with the proceeds or thefts or stolen.

There is a Ebony mine inside one of the four Ork strongholds. Something like 18 veins in one mine. Each stronghold has a mine near but each produce different ore.

Not a fan of Daedric or Dwarven, ill stick to Ebony on my Ork

How do you get to see what it looks like before you make it? I just wanted Dragon Scale Armour (it is still light, same as my glass). And I went light armour route but I knew that I can make Bone or Scale (heavy or light) armour, so I just wanted Dragon Armour. And I am a fairly healthy archer now with my glass bow, ring of archery, circlet of archery, necklace of archery and gauntlets of archery meaning I get 175 or so on my bow......

I've not even seen Daedric weapons (save for one mace) and not armour as I went the other way on the smithing line thingie - didn't want Orc and also wrongly thought I could go from Dragon across to Daedric then down to Ebony....... Wrong!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not short of kit, I've got 100k in gold and more weapons than I can shake a stick at, plenty of enchanted kit too (but I can't find anywhere to sell me or find weight increasing boots so I can't disenchant the pair I have) but I rather fancied a whole dragonscale outfit, but am more than disappointed in all the effort it took me smithing to get there only to find it's little better than my Glass Armour!

Go to Youtube, type Skyrim Armours. You will get lots of videos showing every armour in the game.

Ah, that is something I should have done before going along the left path! But still, I do like my glass outfits....

BTW, anyone know where to pick up a pair of boots of the mammoth?

You have to be level 55 or above to find them in a chest/cleared location or off a dead body according to this - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Daedric_Boots_of_t...

Not sure I understand. Do you have fortify carry capacity on your current boots? If so dis-inchant them and you learn the enchantment. You can then buy or make any boots and use the fortify carry weight enchantment on them.

I don't want to teach you how to suck eggs but you do have a house don't you? Once you have a house you can store as much as you want in the chests. Also you can use followers to carry stuff for you. If you get overencumbered you can use a fortify carry capacity potion to carry more stuff temporarily and you can fast travel if your on a horse even overencombered.

Don't worry about teaching me to suck eggs, I have awful problems with games like this at times. But I do have a house in Solitude with all bells and whistles.

I do have one pair of carry boots but my boots are Of the Ox so they carry 45. I saved and disenchanted them earlier then when I tried to enchant another pair of boots (a lighter pair) they only went up to 18.............

I don't tend to run out of carry capacity these days now I have huge stamina. When I started the game I would loot almost everything (excluding really heavy low value stuff). I would get half way though a cave and even with a follower be over encumbered. Backtrack sell everything then go back to finish the cave.

These days I just take the really valuable stuff. Obviously empty my inventory of non esensial stuff before starting a quest.

That's cos you suck at enchanting. smile

You need to work those enchanting skills. Smith some iron daggers and then enchant them with petty soul gems and level up your enchanting.

To be honest you sound like you have probably played the game straight. Plugged it in and got on with it. I didn't have an up to date gameing console a couple of months back. Someone said they were playing Skyrim and I looked it up on Youtube, got hooked on the walkthoughs and went out and bought an Xbox360 just to play this game. Watched a few more vid to get some tips etc

I saw lots of spoilers that helped me complete quests, puzzel wise. I used the Wiki to chose my race and their abilities. Has it cheapend my experience of the game? I don't think so, I wouldn't have enjoyed trying to be a worrior and ending up with a jack of all trades carature that was not really good at anything.

And I still maintain to this day it was the cheaper option than upgrading your PC (we discussed it) and I'll defend you to the hilt to anyone who says otherwise.

(They'll get a swift arrow to the knee. And that's if they're lucky)

Yes I noticed that, did a bit of random alchemy work to try and get a better enchanter potion as well (I can't put double enchants on yet save for the ones I disenchanted)... The amount of cash I can make from potions is unreal !! (should have realised this a LOT earlier given how much they sell for in the shops).

So many different poxy things to have to do, no wonder it takes me ages!

Oh I totaly agree. I am a little envious of the PC players with the extras, like the extra houses etc but I can live with that. However the environment is so huge I have just scratched the surface and im nearly left 50.

Double enchanting is a perk right near the top, if not *the* top, of the enchanting tree.

If you just want to up your carrying capacity then go to the Steed Stone, near Solitude;

Once you lean the "Fortify Carry" enchantment you can enchant boots, ring, necklace and gauntlets. I tend to keep my gauntlets for fighting enchantments though (in my character's case, Fortify One-Handed and Fortify Archery, as I'm maxed out on enchant and have the dual enchantment perk).

The Volsung mask gives you an increase in carry too.

I've just bought a pair of boots with carry things on them (oddly not seen them for sale before now at all, then I post on here and then the chap in Solitaire has some for sale!), so will be doing that soon enough.
