I was using iron sights with a G3A3 set to full auto (but I was only loosing* off 1-2 rounds a time). I was standing behind a concrete lump, as were they, about 30-40m apart. We were shooting at each other, neither doing that idiotic ducking between shots (would duck to heal), and at most I lost 80% health then got back up and returned fire. They lost.
The G3A3 is perfect for this, either with iron sights, or the zero magnification reflex/kobra sight. I personally find no need real need for any of the proper sniper rifles on any of the normal (non-Armored Kill) maps- their bullet drops are only slightly less than that of the G3A3 with heavy barrel and you miss out on the auto fire mode.G3A3 with heavy barrel and bi-pod is all the sniper rifle you need on the standard maps. It frustrates me that the proper sniper rifles seem to fairly crazy bullet drop, even over moderate range- but I guess thats what keeps them 'balanced' for the maps.
The SKS is pretty much the only one I use, and only then because I can run around and use it like the M1 Garand out of BF1942- iron sights an 'all

G3A3: Didn't know that. I was just unlocking everything on it but with no unlocks added to the gun.G3A3 with heavy barrel and bi-pod is all the sniper rifle you need on the standard maps. SKS: I've noticed it's a decent gun for that kind of work.
The G3A3 also has the highest individual damage (per shot) of the assualt rifles, coupled with it's slow rate of fire makes it perfect for counter-sniping. I've got all the unlocks for it, and I reckon easily 80% of those kills were sniping wookie snipers on Firestorm/Caspian/Kharg/Oman/Karkand. It's extremely satisfying when in nearly all engagements their bolt-action rifles don't outrange your 600rounds per minute, pin-point accurate assualt rifle! I always take a bipod to kill the recoil (it's one weakness) for added lols
Oh and i've found that with the way supression works, your couple of 2-shot bursts will nearly always win out as they often then can't return accurate fire- and on the occasions it takes more than two bursts (at very long ranges) it's not a problem as they are normally laying prone and so can't get out of the way in time!

For counter sniping, my go to gun is the AN-94.
The more I use that gun, the more impressed i am with it. Once you get used to it, it can be a very deadly weapon.
Still preferring the L85A2 for general purpose at the moment though.
Funnily enough the AN94 is next on my list to get the unlocks for. I've been forcing myself to put down the G3A3 & KH2002 for a bit, I've been getting on quite well with the M16A3- although I seem to be spending an increasing amount of time just using the G18 supressed sidearm. Hillarious fun! The more I use that gun, the more impressed i am with it. Once you get used to it, it can be a very deadly weapon.

Never used G3A3, may give it a try tonight.Does it need unlocking or is it standard weapon?
Looks like a standard weapon.Doh. You're right. I swore it was an unlock but checked my B2K unlocks and couldn't see it. Forgot about Coop. And yes, just keep playing coop and you get it regardless of whether you complete the assignment or not. It's actually the worst bit of the game, much worse than Campaign mode.
1) You often cannot connect
2) You cannot communicate with the other person not even write to them
3) No saves when you complete sub-missions.

Ah co-op, did the first mission (Took forever as the other bloke didn't get in chopper for ages at end of mission)
Went on to the first chopper mission, every pilot I had couldn't fly so gave up doing any more missions
Who's bright idea was it to not allow chat text?

Yeah the heli mission is annoying. If you get a decent pilot and are a decent gunner, points can be racked up quickly. In theory it is the easiest mission. Unfortunately, I kept getting lumbered with gunners who insisted on using the cannon on AA vehicles when a missile would have dealt with them in one go, which meant I had to go in and am not a particularly good pilot so whilst I managed it most times with my rockets, I'd occasionally clip a building.
Just hover on the helli mission but take out the rpg guys first and anti air before anyother vehicles
Just remember first is buildings on the right first then half way thru that left building then rpg's over bridge right first then right anti air top left then tunnel then more soldiers etc lol
Think that's right cant remember lolol

I was lucky that I played the co-op levels round my cousin's with the PCs setup next to each other so not only could you communicate you could see each others screens- it made it a breeze!
To be fair, playing through with someone decent, and with communication, I thought some of the co-op was frickin' awesome. We played through all the levels several times over (bar the last one- that's a sod), even after we'd unlocked everything. Some great moments in there. But yeah I can imagine it's a bit crap if your playing with joe public and no communication...
You could just play the first mission a few times to easily get enough points to unlock everything though, as was mentioned you don't need to complete every mission.
