Yeah that just sums up Arty at the moment, one game can't miss, next game cant hit. Total RNG driven mess of an implementation - they keep saying they are looking at it, but never anything comes out in detail.

Patch 9.14 hit EU last night, bit of a mixed bag. The new motion physics are nice, but the new sounds are a bit hit and miss. I found the atmospheric / richochet sounds pretty good, the engines sound a bit lawnmower but better than before but the gun sounds, particularly in sniper view, are very poor.

Admittedly when I've been using Gnomefathers sound mod (where almost every gun over 100mm sounds like the opening salvo of the apocalypse) it would always be a bit muted, but when your KV2 sounds like you've just fired an air rifle / spud gun at the enemy it totally distracts. Very bad, hopefully something the modders can deal with but as the whole sound coding is changed that might take a while. At least there is a decent FPS boost as the sound now works on a separate processing core.

Worst of all though, there is such an amount of new noise now - sixth sense has a sound like a camera flash charging, critical hits to yourself sound like an alarm clock going off, neither of which are particularly good, fitting or something you want to hear much of. There is no way to turn them off, without muting other sounds at least. It is really distracting where before sound was useful to get an idea what was happening around you. You knew if you were bouncing or taking damage, for example, now its far harder to tell. Probably just an adjustment thing, but so many people seem to dislike it, even in test, you have to wonder why they went live like this.

So got my stug, after failing spg-15 once without honours ( killed 5 seconds from end of first time :/)

SPG missions so much easier than LT ones.

Best tanks for the LT missions are the ELC of French premium light. They have the highest camo rating.

Have a look here:

http://www.wotinfo.net/en/camouflage

The spotting missions are very map specific. Malinovka or Prokarovka are by far the best. If you are on rubbish maps, just don't even bother trying for the spotting missions, it will just frustrate you. You may well find with the ELC that you aren't in high enough tier matches to spot enough damage. You might need a T6 or even 7.

I don't...
Grinding the thing for the same reason, decided on the US line as I'm continually getting wrecked by them. Just can't ever hit anything with that gun! Fully aimed shots not even arriving in the same postcode, incredibly frustrating to play! Hopefully the tier 6 will be better.
Nope! I hate to dash your hopes but that's the way it is. I'm up to the M43 and I've come to accept that some games you can't hit a barn door at twenty paces and other games it's sweet. Ppay attention to your damage ratio and it will give you some comfort. Mine on the M43 is 4:1 (with a 2:1 kill ratio). This still doesn't stop me shouting at the computer when you've taken two days to line up a shot and it lands, as you so well put it, in a different postcode but it helps.

Now have the RU-251

great little tank, it is a more of a mini Leo than a light, lovely punchy gun

Not at tier 8, for sure. Even the SU-14-2 is more agile. Can't bring myself to buy the GWT yet as a result.
Bought the GWT after eliting the FV3805. Ponderous.

apparently doing 2k damage and 3k spotting in a RU-251 is camping, and deserves to be team killed by a T57 heavy autoloader who only did 600 damage to the enemy and has a sub 600win8 :/

Ah yes, but if you had been doing it properly he might have managed a full 1k damage evil

I'm not sure which region you are on, but player standards on the EU servers last night were very poor. Not sure if there were national holidays in various countries or what, but judging by many of the plays much alcohol had been consumed. Hardest nights work to get just 50% wins in a long time...

I did manage to cartwheel my VK4502A down a hill though, literally end over end, before landing back on it's tracks and carrying on unscathed. That was fun hehe, am quite liking the new physics.

You STILL grinding that VK45? wink I remembering us tooning up with you in that and me in the SU101 'back in the day', or do you still love that tank and have it as a keeper?

I did ok last night, and to be honest, when the 'noobs are out in force' both teams get more nabs and so my chances to do better are increased. No one else find this?

Also, what are thoughts on the buffed FV4202(p)? Really enjoying this tank now.

I've rolled my E50M twice now in one game.

1st time was on my side and was saved, 2nd time, it was a 1 v 1 and I derped hard going down very steep slope and rolled onto my roof and blew it.

I love it so much I want the grind to last as long as possible... that's why I only play it for the doubles and have a mental block when it comes to remembering to activate the reserves whistle. It's still another 40-50k xp to go, could do it quickly enough if I put my mind to it but get bored focusing on one tank so much nowadays(especially one like this), even with the added gymnastics.

Haven't tried the FV since it's mini buffs, will have to give it a go but have noticed a few more around so guess it must be ok.

Normally I would agree, makes sense, but last night I guess I was just on the unlucky side of the MM coin because we seemed to be outnoobing the enemy at most opportunities. I'm sure tonight will be better blah

edit - feck it, just ground it out

woohoo

Oh nice, pretty good grinding session there then, you had many games in the VKB yet? I got the 263 a few days ago (managed to grind out the terrible SU122-54 in 190 games) and it is a lot of fun, really strong tank especially against sub-blues.

So far I'm not having any issues with the physics other than tanks generally feel a bit more sluggish (not sure if that is actually true or not) and also TDs seem more sensitive to mouse steering, particularly when coming to a halt. Can mouse steering be turned off?

Thanks - haven't played the VKB yet, it was very late when I finished on the tier 8 and just wanted to stop lol. It is bought though, and luckily I had just enough free XP to unlock the turret and tracks, so it is fully upgraded from the get go (had the guns & engines from the E75 / other tanks already). I guess that's the advantage of not using the free xp to make the VKA grind shorter.

I've noticed that twitch on casemate TD's also when stopping, particularly if immediately switching to sniper view. Seems to happen even when not aiming at the edge of the horizontal limits, so not sure if it isn't just some physics type of glitch. JustinF's idea of the X to handbrake it is a good one to try smile

Cool you are liking the 263, certainly hope it makes that 122-54 grind worth it.

Yeah I know how to lock the tracks using X or right mouse button but this doesn't help when I'm charging into a fight, in say an E25, I turn with keys and start to line up my shot with the mouse but as I slow down, the mouse aiming starts to turn the bloody tank slightly so I 'over aim' the target. If I could just turn off mouse turning full-stop that would be sweet. I have searched in the past and others have had the same idea but no solutions as yet. Probably just my over-exuberant play style.

Ha I know that feeling, you are just happy to have ended the pain and call it a night. What made you want to grind the Maus line? Really want a BatChat but the 1375 is totally not my kind of tank.

Ah, glad it wasn't just me noticing this, it's so annoying and cost many a missed, easy shot. I will try to handbrake on entry to the fight to see if that helps (although I thought handbrake was disabled on moving TDs?).

Absolutely love it, it's everything the 122-54 should have been and more. 550dmg every 9 seconds with a fairly accurate gun on a very strong, mobile tank. It can get you into trouble with its speed though (as I'm sure you have noticed I tend to do with other tanks :S ).

2 reasons really - I have ground out almost all the German tanks and just wanted to say I had completed one nation fully. Maus, Leopard and Ru251 are now the only ones to unlock, and I'm on the preceeding tank in all of them. Also I thought the VKb would be good for the damage blocked HT missions, although in the end I managed them in the KV4 and E100 anyway.

Nope, never noticed that whistle

Also I think there is a mod that disables mouse turning on TD's and arties. No idea what it's called, but think it's part of Solo's mod pack, if you look that up.[url]

edit - had time for couple of games in VKb - It's stronk. 2nd game...
