Well, that was another VoG run, another Timebreaker sparrow, and another ship! Rubinho, hope you enjoyed it, the more you play it and the more roles you allow yourself to try, the better an understanding on the mechanics you'll have - as demonstrated by the fact that Sly had no idea there was a central conflux during the Gatekeeper section as he usually runs Relic. He's done the fight plenty, but only in one role.

Also, apologies to Lovechild and Rubinho for the awful Trials run - I'm just not good enough at PvP, that's why I tend not to bother with it!

Heads up guys, this from Bungie's Twitter:

@Bungie: Spread the word. Destiny will be offline for maintenance tomorrow, starting at about 8AM PDT. Downtime could last for 6 hours. Future plans!

So that's 4pm UK time (apologies if that's stating the obvious for some, but I live and breathe these timezone differences as part of the day job)

At least it isn't reset day for a change, so perhaps they do listen some of time smile]

So potentially offline until 10pm? That kind of sucks. Moog, I do still have Gorgon CP on my titan if we can get online tomorrow to try it!

To grab the CP I can get on any time tomorrow during the day if you happen to be about. Perks of working from home smile

Well done Mr Child on the flawless run. I saw you rocking the exotic emblem. Nice one and I hope you got something good from The Lighthouse! clap Jesus, we're going to go into the next IB with 6+ flawless players. biggrin

As for us, despite the poor connections the later it got and possible cheating (people lagging all over the place, connections suddenly dropping to red bars and one dude taking 3 sniper headshots to go down etc eek), we managed 3 runs and went:-

Flawless (no mercy used)
Flawless (no mercy used... this mercy is now 2 weeks old and so yes, they do carry hehe)
8-1

It's a funny thing... pressure. The first 2 runs were seamless. We stomped teams 5-0 and 5-1 with ease with some general banter. We were playing for fun. But the third run, with the prospect of another hat-trick on the cards as we were 7-0 up, and it just fell apart. My sniping just dropped off a cliff and we lost two 3-1 leads to loose the Mercy and then get a loss. Ho-hum, I can't really complain especially as I finally got from the flawless runs:-

- Jewel of Osiris with arc burn. My collection of Jewels is complete party
- The Messenger with arc burn. It is as good as I hoped it would be... and I hate Pulse Rifles.

I've also noticed that all of the secondary and heavy drops are the same elemental. Every HMG I've received (6) have been Arc, every rocket launcher (3) has been void and every sniper rifle (3) has been solar. That's a shame as the sniper rifle in particular is very good.

Well, it may have taken nearly 6 weeks, 40 Control games and 7 hours of Crucible play time, but the Crucible bit of the Thorn bounty is now done! woohoo A Double Down with Truth in the dying seconds of the last game securing that pop up yellow icon that meant I was freed from the shackles of void. I can finally go back in there and perhaps enjoy it some more without having to worry about a) only using void weapons and b) dying

Truth whilst meh in PvE absolutely rocks in PvP (many will know this already). Fire in the general direction and let the bonkers tracking do the rest biggrin

Also interesting is the fluctuation in scoring - over 200 of those 500 points came from just 4 games and that was down to changing play style. At first, I tried to play the game properly i.e. securing zones, going on the offensive etc and that just doesn't work. Camping, sniping and generally being a bit sneaky / running away most definitely DOES work but it took this long to realize that and break my natural instinct to go in all guns blazing. I shall also now be using Striker Titan from now on in the Crucible smile

Purely for historical reasons and in case someone else is going through this ordeal and reads this, my loadout was:

Primary: Stranger's Rifle (or anything as ideally you don't really want to be using this at all unless you have a void primary)
Secondary: Swordbreaker and occasionally Praedyth's Revenge
Heavy: Truth and Corrective Measure now and again

So just Xyor to take down and Thorn is mine. Hoping to do that today if possible depending on whether any willing folks are about today

However I suspect the downtime scheduled for today may be the comprehensive "nerf Thorn" patch as Bungie has been watching my progress ...

Thanks Singh. I was playing with Adam and Reese, so an obvious advantage there, and Reese went on one of his ninja shotgun killing sprees at one point and pretty much won 3 games single handedly while Adam played his usual tactical game and I sat there drinking my tea (win!), but...................... I held my own and wasn't carried which I was just as pleased with as going flawless, especially in such auspicious company. I'm still making the occasional play more conducive to normal PvP, but overall getting to grips with the game mode.

Got Eye of Sol which I agree with you, feels like a nice snappy rifle.
Fusion Rifle.
Bought The Messenger which I'll use as my back up primary. Presumably the same gun as the Adept version but without the burn?

Then yesterday evening played like a lemon. Couldn't hit a headshot, and every primary gunfight seemed to lose by 1 bullet. There were some funny goings on with connection but I can't really blame that. Had a couple of decent games all night.

Don't apologises Sims, see abovebiggrin

I don't think it is possible to carry anybody through Trials. I really don't. That is, unless there are 2 exceptional players. Out of us lot, the only two that could carry a third in my opinion is Kaney and Reece. They're both incredible players as you've alluded to. The funny thing is, they NEVER play with one another, nor have they entered into Trials as a team. I imagine they could go flawless as a 2 if they needed to. hehe

That being said, there always needs to be balance in a team and stability. Well done, well deserved. biggrin

It is. I bought a load for weapon parts but kept 2 (alongside the Adept) for Crucible. I reckon the Messenger with Lord of Wolves/Fourth Horseman would be a pretty good load out. smile

Moog- congrats. smile

Once again all weekend, trials meant there was hardly anyone interested in doing level 35 PoE, with everyone splintered off in their own little groups and party chats. Lots of assurances during the week from people supposedly keen to do a level 35, followed by a distinct lack of enthusiasm when the time came.

It's all starting to get very annoying.

I think you're right. Adam locked down the middle corridor, Reese would push forward and I'd cover Reese/push with him when we got the first kill. Seemed to work well.

Just noticed that I got the solar Scout as well.

Already got an epic fail lined up for Fridaycool

I'm yet to do it, so if you see me on and need another, give me a shout. My characters are all Level 33 though as you know, I'm hard as nails, so that'll be no disadvantage.

Hard as nails or not, I think you'd struggle in level 35 due to the lower damage output. Happy to help you get up to level 34 first though - what are you lacking, etheric light?

I'm genuinely sorry dude... and I say that sincerely. I'm actually desperate to do some level 35s to see what the mechanics are like and as I have 2 elder ciphers that need bosses killing. frown

The issue (this week!) wasn't addiction but more like "owing" others- I couldn't say no to the likes of Mars or Jase to help them go flawless when they've been there to help me get there previously. frown

Tricky. frown

Slightly different. I'd snipe from the main door, Benny would snipe down the corridor. One of us (and on occasion both... at exactly the same time! hehe) would get the snipe and then all three rush. When we went 8-1, we couldn't get the snipe and so ended up getting rushed. frown

Nice work with the Scholar. I bought one (obvs without burn) and I quite like it. Shame it isn't a different burn as VoC takes some beating. smile

Looking forward to it!

Cheers and thanks for the offer of assistance - I'll be on a little after 12 today so if you are still about then I'll send you (and Youngsyr if you're on) a message and hopefully smash Xyor biggrin

Nobody is to blame, it is just the game is currently very unbalanced and most of those I have played with for the last 10 months are hooked on Trials at the weekend at the expense of anything else. Mind you, I'd rather not have had the assurances from both Kaney and Mars of their participation earlier in the week!

I'm sure if I had loitered online for the entire day, somebody may have been available later on but, frankly, that isn't how I want to spend my Sunday.

Anyway, I'm off to delete a Hunter smile

That's true. frown

I don't think you'll tear Kaney away from ToO any time soon. I love it, but he IS obsessed. hehe

Having said that, we (Kaney, Mars, Jase and I) 4-manned VoG HM shortly after you logged off. It was surprisingly easy with only 1 wipe (and yes it was my fault). Celestial Nighthawk was doing 12k+ damage to Atheon! eek No corrective measure but a Found Verdict and another Vex. rolleyes

There is a desire to do some PvE, but PoE isn't as much fun as a 6-man raid.
