GT6 - PHPCC - Season 2 - Both Leagues Combine
Discussion
Not a good night for me (again). 6th in race one which wasn't too bad but then rage quitted during race two. Sorry for the first corner tap Colin, got squeezed and had nowhere to go. Got taken out twice then after that, which was annoying but didn't completely ruin my race as I was catching the big group of cars fighting for 6 I think, but then I started to make mistakes and spin on my own which pissed me off and as I've an exam tomorrow decided to call it quits .

That was some great racing. I really enjoyed it, despite throwing away some precious points by spinning out of 2nd with 2 laps to go at paddock Hill in race 1, ultimately finishing 5th. In race 2 I got caught up in the lap 1 carnage then ran wide, I was in 10th at the end of lap 2 and then clawed my way back up through the pack to finish 2nd overall which felt very satisfying!

on a more serious note the gentleman's agreement is there for a reason so will be stiffer penalties if you cause an accident and then just drive off.
Bad boys, bad boys what you gonna do.......on a more serious note the gentleman's agreement is there for a reason so will be stiffer penalties if you cause an accident and then just drive off.

Bad boys, bad boys.....
I find most of the proposed changes a tad too arbitrary and not really based on what the championship really needs. However, I completely understand that these are only ideas.
I don’t like the concept of a driver class system. I think it would be too elitist; even though there might be faster drivers than others, those drivers shouldn’t have an elevated status – it is a bit snobby and not needed.
Putting a limit on the number of people can use a particular car would be unfair; why should some drivers get to use a car and others are shunned that opportunity? Also, how would one determine the the driver limit for a car? I’m just concerned it would be made up as things go along. From a pure sporting and competition perspective, it doesn’t make sense. Again, it would be an arbitrary limit with little logic.
Class system being scrapped – I don’t mind that.
Banning cars at certain pp is an interesting one. I’m skeptical of this because the banning might be based on false calculations. As an example, an Elise 111R is certainly not less competitive at 470 pp than at higher pp. In fact, I would say it’s the opposite – higher pp gives the Elise 111R the only thing it never lacked – top-end grunt – with that it really is very complete. So already, one can see how banning cars at certain PP would cause issues – it would be calculated on an entirely subjective basis that might be flawed.
Permanently banning cars – I find this goes against the nature of the championship. The whole point of the championship is to surely allow people to pick whatever cars they wish, within the production car rules?
I don’t see why the banning of cars should be extended, in fact I would ideally like it dropped – why does the ban exist for 2 seasons? It sounds very specific – just wondering.
Longer seasons – don’t mind that at all.
Minimum uses for cars to be reduced – good idea – ideally I’d like the minimum use scaled back to 1 use per car during a season. It would be nice to have that freedom.
I wouldn’t be in favour of limiting variants of models, if people want to run different variants, they should have the freedom to do so.
Minimum weight isn’t such a bad idea. This is a rule that has some logic, and is fair on everyone, unlike other proposed rules that are more restrictive and peanlise certain drivers for seemingly no reason – e.g. only allowing a certain number of people to use a car – unfair on others. However, it is a relatively okay rule out of a questionable bunch, I wouldn’t have a minimum weight myself.
When I look back to the rules for season 2 on Gran Turismo 5, the rules were wonderfully simple with a lot of freedom to pick which cars one wanted. I’m not sure the plethora of extra restrictive rules which have been introduced have actually improved the championship. I would ideally like, if possible, for the championship to retain the freedom and simplicity that made it so appealing in the first place.
