I can understand your point of view, certainly. I'm very happy with what I have for my outlay, I just wish we could have more proper racing cars. We desperately need Formula Ford, Formula 3 and perhaps some more older cars like F3000 and early 90s F1. Also, what about competition for the existing F1 cars? Eagle Weslake and BRM to race the 49? Tyrell and Mclaren to race the 312T? This is a motor racing sim produced by a team based at a race track after all!

McLaren M23 - http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/mclaren-m2...

Brabham BT44 - http://drillsgt98th0.wix.com/actemp#!open-wheel/c1...

Not sure if they are fully sorted for AC v1.1 as that has introduced some changes with some mods already updated such as the Mazda 787 and BTCC Nissan Primera.

With no idea as to the accuracy of those cars, I've no interest in driving them.

I've finally got the DLC now smile The ring's fantastic, and it's good to see the Alfa GTA there. The McLaren F1 GTR though cloud9 wow! I've just done a few laps at Spa in it with my 7.1 system cranked right up - heaven! I love the car's combination of pace and edginess, the ratio of grip to power and the huge torque from the engine across the rev range - awesome!

If you want something that'll keep you on edge try hot lapping the tourist layout of the ring in the P1, miles of grip and composure right up until it bottoms out on a bump or dip in the road and then you're in for a real bum clenching 1/5th of a second as you think you're heading for a wall. Genuinely it's the only car/track combo that's had me on the edge of my seat

The 4C keeps me on edge. I wouldn't necessarily describe it as enjoyable, but there's about 2mph or 0.2 sec between sliding around and recovering, and just oversteering into a long succession of different barriers.

On the only recent occasion I got round at any speed, I got 9'07", which is still hideous, but it got increasingly cautious too, so I can knock a lot off it - if I can avoid crashing.

What happens if I have the DLC and my friend doesn't, can we still go on a multiplayer session together and if we can is it possible for me to use a DLC car and him still see it?

As long as you're in a server that doesn't use any of the DLC content you'll be fine. Think of the DLC merely as official mods.

I did a few laps of the 'Ring yesterday in the P1 with a final BtG time of 6.18. Whilst it is very capable, you can tell that there's loads of stuff going on in the background keeping the car stable. On a few occasions I brought some throttle in to hold a slight slide and my input was ignored! I really don't have a lot of interest in a car that does that.

The C9 is completely the opposite and has to be driven with a lot of respect, that and and the F1 GTR will be the cars I concentrate on mastering.

Personally I don't feel the P1's working with me. If I screw up in it, I can't think back to the mistake I just made and improve. It reminds me of most of the modern cars I've driven recently - yuk. The GTR on the other hand is just wonderful.

You can guess this is gonna get confusing and annoying as more DLC packs arrive.

'Gotta buy them all' springs to mind.

AC2 will be announced the day after the last DLC pack in 12 months time wink

It's hardly confusing - if you're missing a mod / DLC content, it shows up in red on the server list.

rFactor was similar, it listed the content on each server, sim racers have been used to that for years.

So the host machine determines the DLC pack/s you need?

Is DLC on all installs, just access granted for buyers to use cars/tracks?

If not the latter, the likely outcome is you'll have to buy them all if you tend to buy and use any at all over the standard content.

It's not like rFactor because it used mainly all free mods.

GT series games would install all content just you specifically couldn't use the content which is the ideal way to deal with this. If that is how this works in AC then ignore my comments on this confusion/money gouging strategy smile

When you buy DLC, it gets downloaded (hence the name!)

When you set up a server, you specify what tracks and cars are going to be allowed.

Thus when you want to connect to a server, it checks that you have matching content on the client.

OK, well I know that some games which have DLC, all clients get it, but only paying clients get to use it... thus people can drive on tracks they own, and see people driving other cars they don't.

The danger here is, since AC is really not a proper racing game until you go online, that most servers will want at least one or two DLC packs, so once they have a few they'll undoubtedly get them all... so to enjoy AC online you'll likely need all of them.

How many half decent servers will stick with just the boggo content?

So even if you drive the boggo cars on the boggo tracks, you'll have to pay for DLC just to use the same servers as others using the DLC cars to drive.

That is fair enough but it's not really in the best interests of the gamer by a long way. It's encouraging people to get all the DLC just so they can enjoy the game online.

There a few games, SimRaceway, iracing, test drive for sure, GT5/6 as well i think that you can play with people who don't have the same DLC as you. Having the DLC just lets you drive the extra cars.

I think with the no access without the DLC model you risk splitting your playerbase. And with AC having both mod support and official DLC it's going to be pretty confusing. It might show the servers you can't join in red but does it tell you are missing?

IMO, AC would still be a fantastic sim even if there was no multiplayer functionality.

There are always a few, the ARMA 2 servers were a good example of this.

The server page lists content and highlights in red anything you don't have installed.

yes I'm on satellite broadband with a 1 second ping time, so can't play multi-player games online at all, but I still love Assetto Corsa. There's years of entertainment in there just enjoying driving the cars, even without the RSR Timing app and the competitive element that brings in.

So, I have a problem with AC, and maybe any fellow G27 users can help me out.

When I bought the wheel, I went through a guide to set it up, and I thought I'd done it so that I get 900 degree steering. Then I thought no, that hasn't worked, and gave up - so I ended up with somewhat Playstation-esque direct steering.

However I find that occasionally if I do something like Alt-Tab out of the game and come back, the 900 degree setting is applied. At first this feels like really weak steering - like FF has been disabled or something - and I'd been assuming that AC had a bug where it stopped recognising the wheel properly, since if I restarted, it went away. Today I clocked it for what it actually is - the intended settings.

I think this is the Logitech profiler software finally noticing that AC is running, and doing its thing.

Anyone else had this?

I'm also now left with the problem that all my practice has been with 270 degrees or whatever, and although I seem to actually have finer & more nuanced control with 900, I crash a lot because I'm just not putting enough input in. I'm not sure which to stick with.
