Wow, what a difference a week makes, played trials with mastodon and our new friend transient nova.
We lost the first game, but a managed to hit 5 wins on one card and got some leg armour, finished off our bounties and then, here's the strange bit, we decided to carry on just for fun!!!!!!

We actually looked like a halfway decent team at times. Playing Trials for fun shows that something has gone seriously wrong in Destiny...
Pretty happy with my 302 Binary Dawn and a 310 Bad Juju from buying a legendary engram from the cryptarch, that knob hardly ever gives anything good away.

Maybe it was the map, maybe it was me - I feel like I've improved a lot, at least to the point where I don't feel like such a loose wheel anymore, we're only in it for the bounties so winning is not the focus but it does make it less painful when you're dishing out some of the beatings instead of just taking them all the time.Nice to get 5 wins and an armour piece though! Good momento for the vault.
I broke my trials boots immediately, the stats were unremarkable and they looked like something Gary Glitter would have worn. My 302 Binary Dawn is a really nice shotgun though, I can see that getting some airtime.
I think the map did help massively this week, mastodon was a beast at sniping!! And he seems to have heat seeking grenades as I think every one he threw ended up sticking to an enemy.
I think we were both on our games tho, and the more we play together the slicker we can become.
Also baryonyx lurking around in party chat munching away on his 17th bag of Doritos and his Lebanese takeaway was probably the boost we needed.
I'll just leave these here mind

Another handy night on Destiny, thanks to Irrotational, Morph and Lew for helping my 290 light Hunter through Warpriest challenge on hard, then dropping Golgoroth. I got some nice kit, including a 316 harrowed chest piece from Golgoroth - the hunter carries on tradition of having the lamest looking gear going, the even the raid gear is totally anonymous. The challenge artifact was equipped immediately, the rest of the loot was broken down, so I've now got a 318 Black Spindle and a 312 Binary Dawn.
I'm looking forward to getting on Iron Banner tomorrow, if anyone wants to party up to play or just to talk s

If I can get the daily bounties done on Iron Banner I'll probably jump on for a Golgoroth challenge with my primary character, but tbh these challenges become less and less important as time goes by, I'm not bothered about 3 characters at 317+, I'm happy to use my second and third characters as loot farmers and no more.

Hey, that was an extremely large poppadom! Or 'puppadum', as the menu stated. I'd spoiled my tea earlier by listening to my mate and getting a 'Mumtaj special' at work from the infamous Mumtaj takeaway in Newcastle's west end. Without a doubt, the dirtiest takeaway I've ever been in. Amazed I didn't get food poisoning. However, come 2AM I was hungry again so I hit the curry leftover my bird's tea and eat that huge poppadom whilst listening to you lot on Destiny. Yep cheers for the runs last night guys. All quite unexpected as I thought I was out for the night.
I carried on to do some trials but wished I hadn't...it got pretty late and we were doing pretty badly, so it wasn't too much fun. I only had 2 games to go to get my bounties done but it was nearly 2 a.m. by then and I couldn't face it.
Hopefully the progress will roll over to next week.
Not sure if I will get on tonight. If I do, then definitely up for iron banana..
If anyone hasn't looked yet it's worth checking the maths on reddit on how the ranking up works. The boosts at the end of the week and for alt characters are massive. If you complete weekly bounties but know you'll be on again later in the week then save them til they're worth a lot more.
Make sure you have shader, emblem, and class item equipped.
Here is a handy website where you can look yourself up, then put in what games youll play and when, plus bounties, and it will tell you what rank youll get to.

Last thing -honestly - if you're planning to buy a bunch of stuff, especially over 2 or 3 chars, then make sure to manage your marks. You can easily need to spend more than your 200 limit so you need a quick way of generating new marks.

OK, screw it, one more thing! And it could be really useful.
Historically you've been able to temporarily glitch the ranking system and carry your rank from the last iron banner into the new one. This only works for ONE tower visit. If you're in orbit slightly before 6 p.m. and then load into a tower instance shortly after 6 p.m. you will still have your old rank. You can then buy anything you want to from shaxx. As soon as you leave the tower your rank will reset back to 0 so you only get one shot.
Bungie might have fixed this in a patch OR might flip the switch at a different time to stop people doing the glitch...we'll see. Worth having a go if you are around though...
