First day of Iron Banana is done, I'm absolutely knackered now. The gameplay is typically retarded, but having a good set of lads in the party passes the time. In particular, Lew's banter is off tha chain, I was completely buckled when we he saw that guy jump at us and said "His world fell apart thur, when he jumped up and saw all of us stan'in thur", what a howler.

I'll be hammering it every night this week and hard at the weekend, I'll have some of those snazzy armour pieces.

It's paradox today so collect your ghosts for the NTTE quest smile

Sorry if I was sounding annoyed last night...recently I had been "not crap" in the crucible and was looking forwards to wrecking in a big team in iron banner....but everywhere I went last night there were 2 or 3 people and I got supered on every third corner. Frustrating times...

Plus Lew kept stealing all my kills! smile

Iron Banner is a total piss take, lead a game by 2500 points until the 15,000 mark, suddenly lose the lead and finish the game 3000 points behind the enemy. Look at the post-game screen and see that half your team are 290 light scrubs. Smash controller into tv screen. Repeat.

Polarbob - check my screenshots...think i even have a 3.x kd in there...smile

Just do the bounties and turn in the weeklies at the end of the week, don't worry too much about wins and losses.

I checked the iro banner calculator yesterday.

On my main, if I do 3 dailies on Saturday, and then another 3 on Monday plus turning in my two weeklies (and assume 3 wins or so in all that time) I'll be rank 5.

For my alt characters, which are rank 2 and a bit at the moment, turning in 3 daily bounties plus two weeklies on Monday will get me straight to rank 5.

Played for a bit earlier, completed all the daily bounties and will store those till I'm next on.

Managed a game with a 4.x kd !!!

Also got the Helmet, only dropped at 296 but I infused all my sparrow league helmets in to it so its 320 now smile just boots to go and I'll have full IB armour.

Happy new year to all the Destiny crowd, hope to get plenty more games in with you lot in 2016, including the painful weekly Trials of Osiris ritual with wuddie...

I ticked over into 2016 in the middle of an Iron Banner round, with 4 medallions of shame hanging around my neck, in my fourth match in a row on Dusk Palace. After the teams being broken up twice (that's how bad we were losing!) I finally broke the streak. Turning in the 4 loss medals and getting a win with the shader, emblem and class item equipped got me about a quarter of a bar, so I'd guess doing rank 3 will take about 20 matches, probably less if I win more. I'm done for tonight though, without mates to crack on with in party chat, Iron Banner is grinding and hellish.

Happy new year! smile

Check out my previous posts smile rep from wins/losses is pretty insignificant compared to bounties, particularly if you can hand them in later in the week.

A weekly on Monday is worth about 1,600 rep with the 150% daily buff plus the 33 percent shader/emblem/class item buff. That's well over half a rank on its own.

On an alt character it gets doubled again and is therefore worth 3,200 that's 1 and a third ranks all on its own.

It's definitely worth using the bottom half of the ironbanner.info page.

You can tick boxes and type in how many bounties and games you are going to do, on which days, and it will tell you what rank you will end at.

Quick note on stacking the daily bounties. There is a set of about 9 possible daily bounties, and the bounties on any give dayare a random selection from those 9...so they can repeat, and if they do, then you can only do them once that day not twice.

So if you have one completed, but don't turn it in, IF you play again there's a chance you'll miss out on some rep, because you could have turned it in last time, AND, completed it again in your latest session.

I reckon towards the start of the week it's worth turning them in straight away as they'll probably come up again. If its towards the end of the week you may as well save them for Monday.

Warlock up to rank 5, got an Iron Shell at 310 and some gloves at 312. fking dreadful. I'll probably blast my hunter up to rank 5 but I doubt I'll bother with my titan, too much pain. I was a bit concerned that my time would be better spent grinding matches in my primary character at rank 5 in the hope of getting end of game drops, but I'd read that once one character is up to rank 5 the others get level 5 drop chances too - this was confirmed in my first game as a hunter when I dropped a 311 shell. I've had a few IB assault rifles and shotguns, they seem nice enough but I think the ToO shotgun is probably better than the IB I've got, just because my ToO has the long range perk which is really nice.

Playing IB as a hunter is awful though, I don't have any XP in the bladedancer class, so I'm using the void class to level it up for the achievement, as it's my most developed class so far. It's miles behind titans and warlocks for PVP though, it's pretty grim.

The oryx hard shader makes the IB armour look awesome!!

I'll be on about 8 tonight for some trials and then Maybe do today's IB bounties.

Hi chaps. My son is a big Destiny fan and has been badgering me like mad because he's after the Touch of Malice, but is struggling like crazy because he has no raid buddies.

I know there's a big following here, so would welcome any advice on how to get it?

He's done some of the tasks already, but need the Shroud of Irunuk, Blade of Famin and the Ravenous Heart. All boss kills apparently?

Perhaps I could use his char and join a PH raid to help get them? Reluctant to open up his friends list as the language can be a bit 'colourful' (well, it has been for other PH multiplayer games I've been involved with wink )

Thanks

Trials and Iron Banner both close at 8am on Tuesday morning at the weekly server reset. If you've got a character at halfway through rank 3, doing the daily bounties today and cashing them in and then doing the same again tomorrow will almost certainly get you to rank 5. The buff tomorrow will be 150%, you can work out how much XP you will need to get there. Rank 3 and 4 each need 2400xp. If you've got any weekly bounties completed, you may end up better off saving them for the next time IB comes around.

Hey Stig, if your son has this step he's part of the way along, he will have collected 15 "calcified fragments", these are items hidden on the dreadnaught, which is one of the maps on the game. To get ToM (as it's known in shorthand) he needs to complete the King's Fall raid, then he'll have to find another 30 calcified fragments. There is no in-game tracker to tell you which ones you've got and where to find the missing ones, so he can use this website https://destinycalcifiedfragments.com/ - if he puts his gamertag in there it will tell him which ones he has and which ones he is missing, with videos and info on where to find the missing ones.

Completing the raid is the hard part, we have all done King's Fall here on PH, but tend to play it on hard mode as the loot drops from normal mode generally aren't useful to us. If he is stuck for team mates, he could try www.destinylfg.net, which is like a scrolling recruitment board of people looking for random players to complete tasks, generally there will always be a lot of people trying to do the raid. If he is young he will be known as a "squeaker" and might find it hard to get a team, as the better, older players generally don't like playing with kids as they often lack the skill, attention and perseverance to succeed at the raids. Language will be pretty strong, whenever I find randoms for games they're always swearing like sailors, whether they're kids or adults though the PH squad do turn the air blue, but we're all adults. Really, the best thing your son can do is get on the lfg and try and join a team who are running it. I admire your offering to do it for him, but unless you've played a lot of Destiny yourself you will struggle, to win the raid you really need to know the basic game mechanics well and then learn the strategy for each individual area.

Tell your son to crack on, he will need to be into the 290s for light - he will know what that means, which means completing pretty much all of the other content in the game before trying King's Fall, or he will just not have the damage output or defense to not get trounced in the raid. It will really, really help if he reads guides and watches videos beforehand - especially since he is probably young. The fight with Oryx especially has a lot of things to learn and he'll fare a lot better if he knows what is happening before he goes in there. Most of the raid is fairly simple but older players tend not to have much patience trying to teach kids, so he will be doing himself a big favour by learning the ropes before going in. After he does the raid and collects 45/50 of the calcified fragments, there are a few more steps but it's easy going and the game tells you exactly what you need to do, there's nothing to it really.

As an interesting aside, the ToM is really only useful for the raid and even then, only useful for the final area where you fight Oryx's daughters and then Oryx himself, it's pretty much useless everywhere else.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply Mastadon!

He has a lvl 40 Warlock with a light level of 284 - so he's there or thereabouts. I'veplayed a bit of Destiny myself wink but have been too wrapped up in Fallout 4 recently to give it mich gametime!

Sounds like lfg is his best bet. I've restricted comms on his XBLive account so he can't hearother players (and he's a pretty responsibly lad and whilst he's no doubt heard every swear word going I don't like to expose him to an environment where I know people can get fairly personal with their insults).

He certainly has the skills. I made the mistake of playing him pvp last bight in Halo - he handed me my Ar$e with a 25 to 4 win. Little goit wink I blame the red wine....
