Im far from an expert, and Im sure someone more knowledgalbe will be along soon, but I dont think it will work properly. You will need the instal file to stick all the right stuff in the Registry etc. Might work if you 'ghosted' the entire hard drive, but that would defeat the object of a new PC without all the crap on the HD (and ghosting the whole HD would probably take longer than d/l BF3)I'm trying to avoid the hefty redownload!
I try and do a co op if no buddies are about, so go for a public matchmake. It's annoying that you cant talk (in game at least) while doing a mission, hence not too bothered who I squad up with. I've found them harder than I expected, buggers keep hiding in tall buildings, and 100s of them!

I'm competent enough getting kills with the sniper rifles but they're not exactly condusive to flag capturing/defending, and it takes forever trying to get the xp on kills alone. My best results have come using the 'marksmen rifles' with reflex/red-dot scopes rather than the true sniper rifles.
Even then, if playing solo it's 'challenging' at best (loads of 1v1 deaths), and when squadding up with people for backup I feel obliged to do something more useful than run from flag-to-flag with a weapon/kit that makes me more of a hinderance to the squad than I would be normally!
I finally unlocked the UMP-45 from the general class last night so im hopeful this may provide the answer...
You just answered you own question. Grab a high fire rate weapon (or even a shottie) plus TUGS, and then get on the front line. Another suggestion would be to try playing Rush a bit, and if possible start a new squad so you are Squad Leader, then remember to assign attack and defend orders, surprising how many 'order' points you can amass, especially in Rush as the body counts are more concentrated.I'm desperately trying to unlock SOFLAM, I've got about 7,500 left to go but it's bloody hard work!

If you want to get a bit more involved in the action, go in as Recon, stick the TUGS down, wait for a team mate to get killed (obviously one who is a different class/high lvl hopefully) and then pick up his/her weapon/kit.
And of course, you can easily pick up a couple of hundred points per game just from spotting

I don't think anything too organised would work as, living in the real world, something may come up last minute that can't be helped. I think we should do a poll to see which day of the week and or day of the month is best, then aim to be on the server from say 8.30pm, with everyone free to come and go as they please throughout the night. No fixed teams/squads, just take pot luck and work with what you are given!
If that seems to be working well we can always tie it down a bit further/get more organised at a later date. Might take a few tries to get it working. Would be good to get the PH server (can't remember which kind soul hosts it) password protected so we don't get invaded.
