Lave seems to be the one that gets mentioned on all the forums for Rares, hence I've not been there. The repeat run in my Adder just netted me about 250k, but took half an hour. Rare trading is profitable but not the most exciting work. I reckon another run and then maybe kit it out for combat and do some bounty hunting.

Personally I'd wait and see what launch date is, in fact that's exactly what I'm doing although a mate of mine has ordered DK2 and he may make me jealous!
It's been stated we'll see CV1 by "Winter 2015" - I suspect we'll see pre-orders starting in the summer. Not sure whether to sell mine; I love it, but tempted to flog it while it still has value then buy a CV1.
I've been playing this for a week and am having some fun Bounty Hunting. Lots of the Kills have been low paid (2,000 odd credits), but I've had some big hauls (50,000+).
I did most of it with an Eagle, then saved up for a Viper. However I couldn't kit it out well enough to take on bigger ships. So I've gone back to the Eagle and better weapons untill I can save enough to kit a Viper out properly.
I'm hanging round the Jita system, its independent, but has close links to all three factions. Good out fitting shop as well. Tend to find a system 6/7 systems away and jump into each one, go the Nav beacon get some bountys. Then cash them in at the nearest space station and then onto the next system.

Tell me about it. I spent ages pissing about with a spreadsheet of local prices when I first started, then discovered the Rares spreadsheet someone linked to earlier and that made finding profitable routes a lot easier It seems crazy that in whatever year this is set you can't get reasonably up to date market prices for other systems. I liked the system in X series of games where if you had a ship or satellite in a system you could get live data for that system.
Massive brown pants moment! Arrived at LHS 235 with a full cargo of rares and got caught in the stars gravity. Immediate panic ensued as FSD emergency stopped and I began to burn up. I tried to restart the FSD but I was locked on to another star so it wouldn't show the escape vector (is that normal or was I just being a 'tard?).
After much further panic and all the composure of a cat in a bath I managed to unlock myself from the other star and fire up the FSD again. With about 25% hull left I escaped but then realised I was still too hot!! It got down to 6% before I stopped taking damage but had lost atmosphere; 5 minutes until doom. Fortunately a nearby station and 48,000cr saw me right.

Is it just me that thinks the buy/sell price labels are the wrong way round? "Sell" in the game means the price you can sell at (demand), rather than the price the station is selling at (supply), which gets me in a muddle every time.
I think it's the wrong way round too. I have to mentally tell myself "I can SELL it for what it says on screen" and "I can BUY it for what it says on screen".The poor in-game route planning (and deliberate lack of an API to let players make their own without), the poor commerce system (and again no API), no buddy system, and the absence of a road map of planned fixes/features leads me to question the integrity of Frontier. The game was clearly rushed out to meet some deadline which doesn't make sense because Star Citizen is still months and months away. I'll keep playing though, but only because I need to justify the joystick I just bought!
Having read about the 'pentagram of Profit' I trundled over to it from the Eravate area. Couldn't decide what ship I needed between the Viper and Cobra, then decided just to buy the Cob anyway, as will be able to trade in it. Upgraded a load of things including a top class Fuel Scoop and stared the lap from AZ Canri.
God is it boring, don't think trading is for me. So did a full lap and round again to Aerial - Cr800K!! Upgraded the weapons loadout again as although it worked on the Viper, E1 fixed Beams & E1 Gimball Cannons does not work as well on the Cobra as you are a much larger target with less mobility. Also, went to a nearby Anarchy to Aerial and crashed into a Python, losing about a dozen rare cargo + 45k insurance.
Not to be put off I mounted D2 Multi cannons in place of the beams and wow that makes a difference. Killed a wild Ananconda (no shields) in less than a minute with it, 70K bounty! So going to keep on BH'ing a while, with the correct loadout and location I think it is about on a par with rare trading in the Cobra and a shed load more fun.

What am I failing to understand when it comes to combat?
I've just bought myself a Viper, kitted it out with a pair of gimballed Burst Lasers, and a pair of turreted Fragmentation Cannon. My intent being to use the lasers to strip shields and then the cannon on the hull.
I then headed for the nearest Anarchy system, scanned a few ships with the kill warrant scanner until I found one with a bounty on his head...and got my arse handed to me on a plate by a NPC Novice Adder! Lucky the Viper is fast enough to run away.
It appears turrets fire automatically, meaning they'd run out of ammunition by the time I'd stripped his shields, however my biggest issue is the bloody lasers. When there's nothing in my sights if I pull the trigger they fire, however with the gimbals tracking a target they seem to have a mind of their own. At one point I was following the target at close range with my finger on the trigger for a good 10 seconds and the bloody things wouldn't fire, what the hell's going on? The Weapons were fully charged, I had the right group selected, and as soon as I pulled away from the target pulling the trigger fired them.

I've just bought myself a laptop for playing the game (it needs to be portable). Imagine the mousepad and keyboard will be difficult. Any recommendations for a decent joystick, or is anyone using an xbox controller as seen a box of them somewhere?
I'm using an Xbox 360 controller, it's working fine for me.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
