Almost- Singh111s. I *think* we're already PSN buddies. smile

Weapons causing solar and arc damage are pretty much essential so tool up appropriately if possible/focus on ranking up such weapons beforehand if you can. There is a horrific bit where 4 very aggressive wizards come flying at you, giving you everything they've got. 1 or 2 hits from one of them and you're pretty much toast. nuts

It is doable with 2 though. Easier with 3.
I have some good legendary and exotic weapons which should do the trick smile

A good run through the entire Raid today lads and at least some of us got some useful stuff - I bet Thainy is relieved he got his gloves back! laugh

I think a couple of more run throughs to really nail down the roles and team play (and my hunter's jumping!) and we'll be able to knock it out from start to finish in about 90 minutes without sweating.

I've still got to do it with my Warlock this week, so will be looking for a fireteam on Friday evening about 10pm probably.

Still haven't done the raid but cheers for your help doing the level 26 strike thing the other day... despite my level 22 hunter being just slightly out of his depth hehe

Now I am a smidge off level 25 so obviously worth all those deaths. Hope to get a few strikes and bounties done tonight if I can... still scared of VoG though laugh

You're welcome - give me a shout if you see me online and need help with anything, even if it's just advice on how to level up the quickest way.

From memory you just need to get some XP on your boots (so complete bounties, daily heroic missions on the highest level possible etc) and then upgrade them (you'll need helium filaments) one slot to get you to 25.

Always try the daily on the hardest setting first as you can only complete it once per day regardless of level, so you want the rewards from the highest level possible. If it's too hard at the highest level, drop down a level until you can do it.

Keep upgrading the boots as much as possible, then use your strange coins to buy an exotic helmet from Xur at the weekend and you might be able to hit level 26.

At that point you could probably be carried through the Nightfall mission, which will give you a lot of XP and one item that is guaranteed to be at least legendary and is quite often exotic. biggrin

Also, try to complete at gold level at least one public event every 24 hours as this is the easiest way to get legendary materials (delivered to the postmaster) to upgrade your legendary/exotic weapons and armour.

There's a site here that tells you when each one is on and in which area:

http://destinypublicevents.com/

Won't be long before you're a level 28 badass. shoot

See above, outside of the Raid (which gives you something like 6-12 for a complete run), the best way to get them is:

First public event completed at gold level each day (9am to 9am) (random 1 legendary material, plus potentially up to two more legendary materials)
Daily heroic level 26 (random 1 legendary material)
Daily heroic level 28 (random 2 legendary materials)

You only get rewards for the first completed daily heroic, regardless of level, so if you complete it at level 26 and then at level 28, you only get the 1 piece of material for the level 26 completion.

The Nightfall rarely and randomly gives you shards instead of a weapon or armour, but that mission is worth doing each week anyway.

Some legendary engrams decode into shards, but again it's random and rare.

That's basically it. Try not to break down legendary or exotic items to get shards/energy - they only give you 2 pieces of material each time and it's often useful to have alternative armour and weapons to your main set.

Create 3 characters and make sure each one participates in a daily public event. That will earn you at least one shard or energy for each character. Then, if you're level is high enough, take part in as many Vanguard strikes as possible to get to the 100 Vanguard marks per week limit. Use those to buy Legendary armour and dismantle them for shards. Once you get to level 26, take part in the raid. Even getting through the first section of opening the gate will lead you to a chest with 2 or 3 shards or energy. Again, repeat this process with each of your characters.

You'll just need to accept the grind element to get to level 26 but once you pass that, joining fire teams for the Weekly Heroic, Nightfall and Raid events brings back a lot of the fun.

Tuesday nights will be the hardest to get someone to join you as that is the prime time to complete the Weekly Nightfall mission. It can take up to an hour to complete and if you have multiple characters, that's a fair amount of time to spend. This week's Nightfall is solo-able so it's easy to carry someone with you, but some weeks, it needs a strong team of level 28s. The reason the Nightfall is done first is that it gives an XP boost of around 20% to all subsequent missions and that's quite important for leveling armour and weapons.

Pretty much any other night will have people more than willing to jump in and help you. (Apologies to crockostimpy for this very situation last night).

Thanks to "Rob from Sheffield" for the runs yesterday afternoon/evening, sorry i cant remember your in-game name!

This game is getting a little repetitive for me though, i have Thief coming on rental so hopefully playing something else for a week or so will re-light my fire for the game, its getting stale!
Rich from Sheffield!? laugh
Sorry i couldn't remember the day after, least i got the R right! loser

My rental has come for thief at the moment and with 10 other games on my rentals list the game will be away for a few months! I will be back at some point, if i dont trade it in but its just a bit repetitive to play every night hehe

Yes, Vault of Glass is the only Raid in the game at the moment. smile

Just friend request people on here and join their games when you see them online - most people are more than happy to have company, but just ask them when you join if it's ok and 99 times out of 100 it won't be a problem. smile

I owe you a beer for last night. I managed to get to that boss without dying, even beat that big ass tank on my own, but if you hadn't come along when you did, I would have been screwed. That bloke was hard work.

After a couple of attempts, we managed the Nightfall last night.

For once I wasn't screwed and got this baby as a reward:-

Not had a chance to try it yet, but I've wanted/needed a decent auto-rifle and seen as though I missed out on the Suros Regime, this will have to do. Perks seem naff and the reviews are mixed but I am happy enough.

...rather this than what Speckle got. 11 Ascendant Shards. hehe

Watched a video play through of the VoG on YouTube yesterday out of curiosity to see what it's like. Suffice to say I won't be going anywhere near it with the kit I currently have as I'd be battered within a few seconds frown Jeez, it looks tough even for the bunch of experienced Raiders that shot the video (level 27+ all of them)

Loved the bit where they all died (on purpose) just to show what the Gorgon does to you ...

Back to levelling my third character I think, a Warlock this time although for some reason it seems harder to do than the other two characters, Titan seemingly the easiest to blast up to level 20. I'm level 11 now and up against missions on Venus that are level 12 whereas with the Titan I was about level 14 at the same point in the game.

Bit miffed that you can't switch between the subclasses and carry over the experience gained to assign abilities - you really have to grind over and over in order to build the subclass. I started out being a Warlock sunsinger but after a while decided to go back to the voidwalker (?) but without the benefit of the mission XP gained previously. I could just delete the character and start again I suppose ...
