Are there **any** wheels currently available new for Xbox 360?
Fanatec if you are minted. Logitech G25?? I think or the Drive FX. I have a Drive FX and think its great.
Try amazon.
Had my first proper session with this game last night (on PC) after hungrily reading the forums while away.
I had an hour and after a quick blast round spa to confirm it seemed to respond to the same gear selections etc around a track I knew, I decide to get to know Sakhir.
I felt I'd gone back in time, in terms of fun and accessibility, to the Geoff Crammond days that I loved. I was lapping against my ghost, and after 5 or so exploratory laps, I started remembering corners and working out quicker lines. I started dropping time a couple of seconds a lap and then started to plateau and needed refinement and changes in appropriate aggression at different points to improve.
For me, it's definitely a game, not a sim. But for me, that's great. I no longer have the time to put in to really get to understand the game like I had to with rFactor, GPL or GTR. I have the odd hour or two free. I liked the fact I could flick it on and choose a track and a car without having to go and find where I could download the latest track, the 2010 car etc. Or have the frustrating hour of getting back up to speed and chucking it off the track every time I was a millimetre too heavy with the brake pedal.
The downsides for me were lack of mirrors in the proper sitting in the cockpit view (the only view to play with, surely !).
It also seemed way over-forgiving on power-on oversteer. Although I have a good built-in aversion to putting the power down until the car is pointing in the right direction, I could be pretty aggressive powering out of bends without too much drama. I'm sure a real F1 car isn't like that. I also thought it was over stable on braking and changing down. I guess that's what makes it a game not a sim, but I think I'd like just a little more twitchyness, but not to GPL or GTR levels.
I absolutely loved the simple setup stuff. Thank god I don't need an engineering degree, or someone elses setups to get anywhere near a competitive time.
Next time, a serious race weekend. Should be fun, which is what it's all about for me now.

I need to come up with a solution to stop my wheelstandpro from slipping on my polished wood floor. Due to the frantic nature of driving an F1 car I tend to push it away when I stand on the brakes. It already has rubber feet but they could do we being a bit tackier.
How about some form of rubber mat? Asterix said:

How about some form of rubber mat? having just played this on my xbox 360...
i put it on "i expect to be challenged"
I came third in an STR.
THe physics are really really awful... I haven't even been able to lock a wheel and I can't tell when the rear wheels are spinning (TC and ABS off).
when I do spin it always feels like a "canned spin" rather than proper physics.
it's just a bit rubbish.
shame i can't get my £35 back
