Forget conquest - the maps are too big with too few players on the consoles. Tank Supremacy is where it's at - loads of tanks flying around trying to capture and hold one extremely exposed map. It's carnage! tank
I've just had my first go at that, it was a big ticket server, so pretty disheartening to have to keep running out into it.
Zoom optics is handy, I managed to snipe my way up to MVP, but still the side lost.
A few soflams and javelins would have turned the tables, they had the flag pretty much camped out. I could take out the tanks no problem, but getting to the flag was a nightmare!
I was playing Soflam/sniper a lot yesterday evening - jump in a tank at the start, drive straight to the high ground and deploy SOFLAM overlooking the flag and stick a spawn beacon down nearby in cover.

Then jump back in the tank, get stuck in to the tank battle with your guided shells and normal shells until you inevitably get taken out. Jump out before your tank blows up and start SOFLAMing/sniping people at/attacking the flag.

Racked up 35 Laser designated assists in 6 games (all won) and several MVP ribbons before the oppo clocked on and started counter-sniping my SOFLAM and me.

Shesh, Tank Superiority is a bit of a mess. He he. First game, we lost badly. Second, was EPIC! I engaged a tank and he destroyed mine, but I jumped out and shot him when he jumped out of his to repair. I then repaired his tank and went on a 15-0 streak, MVP and our Team destroyed them. Fun.

However we played Rush on some map where you basically climb a mountain. The last set of objectives was a disaster.

Doesn't matter what game it is theres always someone whinging about this or that being overpowered its a grenade launcher it's suppose to blow you to st or play in a server where it's banned or setup your own...
Sounds like we've got a n00b t00ber on our hands here rolleyes

Yes it's a grenade launcher, but when you are trying to defend an objective against multiple n00bs constantly spamming the t00b and standing over an ammo box it gets a bit annoying. It's a cheap, easy way of getting kills with a weapon that has long been due a nerf. I prefer to play on servers where nothing is banned, but not with dheads who just want to spoil the game for everyone else, whether it be through trolling, teamkilling or just being a total n00bs with M320s, jet ramming, c4 on the objectives and other tactics that st players frequently resort to.

As for AK - well, what a mess. Some good ideas, spoiled by the total over-reliance on dull vehicular combat. The Death valley map is beautiful - with a single LAV or tank per team it would have been great fun, the tank domination maps on the other hand are a barren, ugly mess. The other maps are just too big for the number of players, until you meet a load of tanks clumped into a tiny canyon all pulling the trigger on anything that moves, like a herd of stupid elephants in a panic.

It seems a shame to me that one of the upgrade packs has been wasted on dour vehicular combat. To me, it's definitely the weakest aspect of BF3 - I always find the best matches on Metro, or maps like Senie Crossing where vehicles are present but not allowed to dominate. In Armoured Kill, Dice are forcing us to do what BF3 does worst, with some truly baffling ways of getting us to do it. Take for example, the Sprut SD tank - what is the purpose of this vehicle? I shot a tank destroyer 5 times and only disabled it. In that time, the TD turned its gun on me and disabled me with 3 shots. The weapon on this tank is truly pathetic, you'd think it was loaded with party poppers, and on an extremely unbalanced tank domination map where the Russians seem only to get light tanks, and the Americans get a mix of heavy tanks and tank destroyers, it makes me wonder what we are supposed to do with this light tank.

I suppose there is a positive in all this, and that is that I am now even more excited than I was about Aftermath, even though it's not out until January. Roll on January!

I'm a huge tank fan (have multiple stars on MBT's) but I agree with the above poster - am finding AK very dull and contrived.

I am finding AK not that great but I am not sure if it's just my poor connection as with so many vehicles and destruction it lags terribly. And it's not really worth playing unless you are an engineer, which then means you run out of ammo so quickly as no-one drops any...

stick with me as i play support class pretty much exclusively now using either as val or the LSW as i like to carry c4 for jihad jeeping or sneaking up on unsuspecting vehicles then running off like a mad man. Anywhere i stop il always drop a box regardless.

I remember when bf3 first came out. It was just an engi fest!! One thing i have noticed though is that snipers are almost non existant now.

I agree, you can't take a flag or arm an MCOM by shooting grenades at it. If you're constantly getting killed by "Noob tubers" then change your tactics.

Likewise booby trapping objectives with mines, claymores and C4 is a perfectly valid tactic.

Jet ramming is the only "noobish" tactic in the game if you ask me - no matter how skilled a heli pilot you are, there's very little you can do to counter (and avoid being killed by) it despite it taking very little skill from the enemy.

Like those damn suicide C4 jeeps when you in a tank! mad

The only reason I actually love them is when you manage to take them out before they hit you. Guy the other day had so much C4 on his the thing went airborne and cleared the refinery on Operation Firestorm. Lots and laughs! tank

Sorry to disappoint, I don't bother with abusive voice messages, the only people likely to get anything from me are COD-refugee admins who kick people who kill them, or swap everyone's teams at the last minute when they are winning.

I don't claim to be a great player, and I don't play in a clan, and I have not heard of this "red orchesra" clan of which you speak, but I'll take your word for it that they are ok.

In general, I find the places most abused by n00b t00bers are the tight corridor area, like the alleys around B on Grand Bazaar, or practically anywhere on Ziba Tower. It doesn't take a lot of skill to twitch-fire grenades at anything that moves in such situations, and this is where I encounter most players spamming the grenades hoping to get easy splash kills.

To avoid grenade spammers, play HC - they tend to either not spam them, or get kicked in a short amount of time for TKing

I only play HC these days - started playing core when I first got the game and switched to HC when I shot someone 4 times with an SVD and he was still alive! HC is much more fun imo, it's the way the game was meant to be played.

I, on the other hand, absolutely LOVE jihad jeeping tank wes who spend the whole game in a tank (or even better, the mobile AA sluts who sit just out of range) and hearing the screams and bhing over chat.

Lots of laughs hehe

Why is it that no matter what game I join I end up on the squad with two people who are level 10 or less (so no squad ammo/explosives etc), and who both play sniper and who think that Rush means stay as far away from the Mcoms as possible.. I am sure my little character is a part time marathon runner.

What I hate is the enemy team jet ramming just because I'm doing better than them. Happened many times, both when I'm in the heli or jet, will kill one of them, then they'll respawn and just fly into me killing us both, or when hovering with the chopper, they'll just simply fly into me when I'm getting missile lock on them.

I accidentally did this yesterday - flying over one of the AK maps (the one on the sea front) a heli appears in front of me, so I let rip with cannons as he's locking on. All he had to do was drop, because I was pulling up (and it's easier for the helis to change direction than it is a jet at full chat) but he didn't, he increased height which lead to him getting intimate with the bottom of my plane.

I ejected because the jet was pretty much scuppered by this point, only to see the "xyz is no more" pop up in the right hand corner of the screen four times as the fully loaded heli hit the deck, hard!!

Me, I just floated back to earth and capped C! biggrin

I am actually starting to enjoy the Tank Superiority a bit, if you get a match with people who are actually using their mics you can have a good laugh with it. Spotting and communicating is even more important than normal in TS when you are so damn slow, you need to go in with a plan and stick to it since you can't manoeuvre quickly enough to wing it on the fly. Just had a game on Armoured Shield, managed to hold the objective for pretty much the entire game, used tanks in armoured columns, bait and flank moves with a single tank acting as bait and 3 flankers, line and wedge formations etc, all very good fun, and all very effective tactics.

The high explosive shell for the Sprut SD is rubbish though, an enemy engineer paradropped in front of me, I nailed the ground around him about 5 times and he didn't even take a single hit marker, had enough time to turn around and nail me with a javelin and destroyed my tank. I'd have been better of with normal armour piercing shells I think, or even just running him over!

I've been on this situation in both sides tbh. Some times you do try to avoid and end up making it worse.

How do you get onto the PH servers? I'd like to have a blast at it as I'm pretty crap and I'm getting fed up of getting kicked by admins because I'm not a 100 point general frown
