well iirc he said 12 gallons to a 1/4 mile
A 19 gallon fuel tank, brimmed, had about 5 gallons left after a run; so roughly 14 gallons used in a burnout and run. That was with a relatively small pump (19gpm). The remarkable thing is the big show cars, running 120gpm (gallon per minute) pumps wont use a lot more, as each revolution of the motor pushes them further down the track, quicker. From a speed point of view, it never got the top end without being on fire, so every run was a "what if", but these were the times and speeds from the quickest ET run...60ft: 1.18 seconds
330ft: 2.98 seconds
1/8th mile: 4.32 @ 183mph
990ft: 5.50 @ 198mph
1/4 mile: 6.69/174mph
I was already off the gas just past the 1/8th mile due to it kicking 2 rods out, so it was slowing down through the 990ft clocks. For reference, a speed of about 177mph at the 1/8th normally equates to 220mph in the 1/4 mile in this kind of car, so it would have been circa 230 something had it held together. Quite miffed I didn't grab a record
