I have and can. And I'm assuming I've got TC and ABS on as I've only been playing on easy!

so what does the game do to indicate that the wheels are spinning?

having just played this on my xbox 360...

i put it on "i expect to be challenged"

I came third in an STR.

when I do spin it always feels like a "canned spin" rather than proper physics.

it's just a bit rubbish.

shame i can't get my £35 back frown
Sounds like you've still got TC and ABS on

Moving off from a standing start if you then floor it IIRC there's a change in the noise - tyre squeal maybe - and the car suddenly stops accelerating until traction comes back when it flies off again. Accelerating round a corner the back end moves around.

Makes a shed load of noise and squirms off line in my case, usually ending in a spin.

Certainly sounds like TC is on full. The car drives likes it's on rails when on imo.

Also with your wheels not locking under braking, check the car set up in the pit garage. The braking force is normally set to around 50%, if you notch it up a bit you will soon notice it trying to lock if you are too heavy on the brakes.

Well I'm finding this game addictive. 3 hours solid tonight.

I'm 5 races into the season, first two, 5th and 8th in the Lotus, my team loved me. But decided I then needed to finish 12th in all subsequent races.

Then a wet race - disaster in China ! Full wets and very little dry line emerging, and I struggled. Second from last.

Then Catalunia was 80% chance of rain, so hedged my bets, stayed out long, weather didn't change from dry. I should have pitted and got out in front of the pack but the lollipop man held me for a Renault that must have been at the end of the pits when I was ready to leave. Frustrating !

Now onto Monaco. Still can't get within a second of Trulli, and I've been able to p*ss Monaco on every racing game since I was 10 !
It's difficult (although I've set in on fairly hard with no ALB, help, or traction control).

Some comments on the opponents - be interesting if it's just the random generator in my season, or if everyone sees this:
Barrichello is an aggressive bar-steward. Consistently. Especially off the start.
Petrov is normally slightly quicker than Kubica.
THe HRTs are mid pack. I've fought Chandok for 12-15th place more than I care to mention.
Schumacher is easy to overtake smile

I spend far too many restarts on Monaco!

I think there are a couple of canned character settings because my first save, before corruption, Schuy was a pussy, now he is trying to take me off every corner!!

The Stewards are definately FIA stewards though, took an Alonso up the chuff at the hairpin at Shanghai. Two seconds later a message flashes across my screen that I have been given a drive through for unsporting conduct!

Just finished season 1. Was expecting a big something for being #1, but season 2 starts up rather quietly.

Ok, so, apparently offers from higher teams can be withdrawn. I was holding our for an offer from Force India but after finishing Season 1 5th in the WDC with Lotus, the offers from Toro Rosso and Sauber had gone and now I have to do season 2 with Virgin after Fernandes decided not to renew my contract. Gah.

Yep - had that problem. Offers from Renault, Ferrari and Mercedes before the last race. Won the last race, then Renault had withdrawn their offer. Pah.

Wow I just changed the game for myself.

I did really well in the first season with (I thought) relatively hard realism settings. Won in a Lotus a couple of times towards the end of the season and came 5th in the championship.

I had no ABS, steering help, braking help or anything (can't remember the exact ones) switched on, and the opposition set to whatever is before legend.

Before this season I went in to double-check the settings and found I could scroll down and I'd missed some settings.

I now have realistic tyres and realistic fuel.

Now I'm in the right sort of position for my car and really having to start working at it. I'm having to find 2 seconds in qualy when I think I'm on the limit everywhere. It's a long term game this one I think ! (Well until I NEED to buy F1 2011 to get this years tracks and liveries no doubt).
