I'm starting to quite like the KV-2's big boom stick but it doesn't half annoy some people. One shotted a enemy light tank last night and immediately had the following on chat

Him - fk you Rizzo you fking idiot!!!!!
Me - ?
Him - Idiot!!!!

Sadly we won the game before I had a chance to point out he was the one that was dead while I was alive biggrin

Then had a game starting in the south of Murankova, I find the KV-2 works well there at the start of the game if I sit south of the forest while someone else scouts it. One of our team had a right rant about me and TD doing that, to the point of him telling the other team our location, despite the 2 of us having 3 kills each in the first few minutes of the game and the rest of the team only managing another couple of kills between them rolleyes

Saw an arty scouting last night, that was a first for me.

A few arty are bloody fast and stealthy, not sure what it was shot past me at a rate of knots the other day but he was probably one of the fastest tanks in the match, and used in direct fire they pack a hell of a punch so a bit like scouting in an ELC I guess. I went the Russian line and my arties get outrun by glaciers and are visible from space frown

Has arty been nerfed recently (the last year or so since I was last playing regularly)? I took my SU26 for a spin the other day which used to be great fun and virtually all my shots either missed or bounced.

Arty has taken a massive nerf recently. They hardly do any splash damage now, and accuracy though never a strong point of arty is even worse than it ever was.

I forgot How annoying this game can be after 6 months not playing! Some people are very annoying

It's equally as much fun as it is infuriating!

If you ever want a few platoon games add me.... Martin_Hx

Yes the SU26 is useless now... The only arty that's mildly amusing is the FV304, but it's range is very poor..

FV304; probably the most fun arty at the moment.

That's the one, amazed how quick he was.

I kept my SU-26 because it was fun, and had just elited my SU-8 when I stopped playing a year or so back. I sold the SU-8 the other week to take advantage of the discount on the KV2 and KV3, but was planning on buying an S-51 when I could afford it. Not sure I'll bother now.

I'm not sure I've got the hang of this grinding business, currently I've got an MT-25, Hetzer, SU85, T-34-85, Churchill 1, KV-2, KV-1S, KV-3 and IS all on the go trying to get to elite status. I think concentrating on one line would be faster biggrin

A special has been announced for the 8th - 11th, celebrating some victory parade in Russia:

x5 for first victory
30% off tier 6-7 prems
15% off tier 8 prems
30% off tier 6-7 standard vehicles
50% off consumables, equipment, camouflage, crew (re)training and crew skill reset
5 Large Repair kits, fire extinguishers and first aid kits upon first login during the special
80k credits per 5 wins, 3 times per day

Pretty nice special this one, runs from thursday until the wee hours of Monday. Will certainly be a tidy boost for anyone trying for the Super Pershing.

Yeah I know what you mean, in fact judging by last nights experiences the bots have started early. Still it's too much XP to pass up so will grit teeth and get through it - will be less painful than having to spend a lot of time in the month grinding the Chinese and Japanese tier 5's in my garage at the moment.

But for players like me, who only play a few games and even then only use a couple of tanks, it's worthwhile to avoid these times.

Let's face it if you haven't played for a time, it takes a few games to get back into it, at least that is the case for me. If you are then only going to get 2 or maybe 3 games where you benefit from the x3 or x5 for the first win, just not worth facing the serial muppetry.

Furthermore if you've been away for a couple of updates, some of those matches may be on new or revised maps where you really are at a disadvantage blundering around not having figured out tactics, choke points, good hidey holes and so on.

I found the best way with the Japanese tanks in particular was to run the two lines concurrently until you get to the merge at tier 5, the engines radios and majority of the guns are shared so it really speeds up getting everything smile.

Are there a lot of bots in the game? I've seen a few comments on chat about reporting people as bots, but I've no idea how they work to be able to spot them. Do they just stay in one place and shoot at anything that moves or are they more advanced than that.

I'm also not too sure why people bother. Yes it earns them credit and XP but it doesn't gain them experience which seems to be the most important thing, a good player in an inferior tank will do better than a crap player in a top spec one.

Mind you I can see the interest in developing bots, I have a colleague who is developing generic algorithms for optimising strategies in adversarial games, perhaps I should get him interested in WoT and see what we can do biggrin

Yep totally understand and were it not for the Super Pershing mission I would probably avoid this weekend too. The frustration it can, and probably will, bring will be epic. Damn you WG for making this mission doable pretty much only by utilising these specials.

Panzer Commander - good advice, never thought of that.

Rizzo - I don't think there are that many bots, although definately more than would be ideal (i.e. none). Generally speaking they are the tanks that stick very close to / in the base cap circle all game and will only move their turret as and when enemies are spotted in their view range. They sometimes shoot, sometimes hit and might even move on predetermined paths, but generally once you have seen one or two they are easily spotted. Have noticed not so many of late, but specials usually incentivise them more so will see what happens.

They can be useful though - even an afk / bot tank will spot enemies & absorb damage so you can always hide in a bush near them and use them as bait smile

Damn you Rizzo. If you and your mate come up with a Bot program that can actually play better than me I will NOT be happy! irked

Well if you were going to do it properly you'd want a platoon bot playing multiple tanks rather than individuals biggrin But on recent form I doubt it would be that hard to come up with a bot that does better than me. biggrin

Actually checking my stats it seems I've played 81 games in the last week and 42 of them so a definite improvement. I think the main thing is I'm getting the hang of the T-34 (better use of the terrain and good gun deflection to only expose the turret).

OK, I need help...

SU-76, tier 3 TD, my win rate after 87 games is <46%...

I just can't get this thing to win! I can use the StuG (55%) and T71 (53% but >65% recently now it's in supercharged mode) so I know how to stay hidden/snipe/play with no armour. I am losing pathetically against players who are clearly new to the game and haven't got a clue.

It's now a matter of principle - I've fully researched it but won't move up until I get the overall win >50% (admittedly only a handful of games).
