Noo, don't tell me they've nerfed the SU-76. Not had a go in it since I started playing again but that's my highest winrate at over 60%

I believe my tactic was stay back and fire at range, if possible keep far enough back from some cover so you're not seen when you fire as the armour's made of paper but the gun is accurate at a decent distances. If you get detected move somewhere else as if you stay put and fire again you will get clobbered.

I fired up WOT a moment ago and saw the X5 experience. I could immediately feel my pulse and blood pressure increase so I shut it down again instantly.

SU-76, tier 3 TD, my win rate after 87 games is <46%...

I just can't get this thing to win! I can use the StuG (55%) and T71 (53% but >65% recently now it's in supercharged mode) so I know how to stay hidden/snipe/play with no armour. I am losing pathetically against players who are clearly new to the game and haven't got a clue.

It's now a matter of principle - I've fully researched it but won't move up until I get the overall win >50% (admittedly only a handful of games).
Problem I have in low tiers is people don't do what you expect them to do. Where in higher tiers (5/6+) people play less aggressivly, in the lower tiers I find people yoloing around all over the shop. This tends to get you spotted unexpectedly, and in a paper TD that means deaded, very quickly. Especially with all the machine guns / derps at that tier.

Best counter probably to play very very deep, literally back line so that even the yolo brigade are dead before they reach you. Even as top tier. Then slowly move up as the game progresses (assuming your team have the upper hand). Against tier 4 / 5's you probably want to do the same too. Not exciting, but hopefully effective.

No they certainly don't - the bast...ds keep killing me! That's not what I expect to happen at all!!!

Thanks all for your pointers though. Nothing new, but will make me think a little more about what I am doing smile

Ditto the above also binocs, camo nets, hitting X so you don't accidentally move and increase your visibility and have some form of cover 15-20 meters in front of you not on the tip of your gun (this will become disregarded as cover inside 15M when you fire)

The SU-85B will lift your spirits, that TD is a gem smile Don't get too hung up on a tier 3 tank, the lower tiers generally have flaws built in to reflect the evolution of the tank.

No records broken here, just one important kill but good fight of cat and mouse with Excelsior.
Still satisfying none the less when you beat big brother and win the game.

the x5 XP weeked has fail and lots of it. Four battles in the E-75 last night, all of them stout with lots of hits (with penetrations) on the enemy tanks (1500XP plus). All of them defeats, The one battle where I get killed in the first minute having not fired a shot; victory...I am now only 28k XP off an E-100 (3.5 million credits short mind).

One thing I am hoping is that I can finally get shut of that god awful tier 5 syphilis panzer and move onto the Nashorn.

x5 weekends really bring out the muppets.

Have to agree with most of the above. Problem is it can be a bit boring to sit right back and move up as opportunity presents. Second thing is that people who presumably haven't played TD and don't understand the issue of spotted and you're dead issue just start clucking furiously on the map which is distracting.

Having said that I had a repeat of a battle from a couple of weeks back. This time in T49 big gun but paper armour. Bottom tank on our side not sure about bottom on their side but not much in it. Ruinberg on fire encounter battle, expected to to be able to do not much. Sniped a few from cover early on but the battle developed into a brawl through the town.

In those circumstances you just shouldn't get top tank of the winning team.

Although the final SU 85B sat chipping away at our muppets just sitting in the cap wasn't happy with me power sliding round the corner behind him, tracking him, then wedging myself into his side to prevent him turning to bear. Proper stamping his foot for a second there.

Makes up for all the shambles.

I should have - last night was truly painful, but eventually mucho xp gained so hopefully worth it. Although looking at in the cold light of day I'm playing tanks I don't want to play, during a special where the quality of play is diminished, to obtain a tank I'm not especially excited about getting. silly

At least it's Friday so can do it with a nice drinky buzz tonight, will probably help. Have a good weekend everyone, tanky or otherwise.

There were some nutters playing last night. Most games I played resulted in one team being wiped out for the loss of only 2 or 3 of the other team. I think I only had a couple of games where it came down to 2 or 3 tanks on either side. Loads of people ranting about everyone else being idiots (usually when they're already dead through being an idiot), one of the pillocks that insists on firing their gun as they soon as the start shot me in the arse before we'd even seen any enemy on one game, and there was even some anti Serbian racism going on.

Annoyingly I still seem to generally be in the top 2 or 3 tanks of losing games, and the bottom half of the board on winning games.

I managed to shoot a JagtPanther on our own team last night, E-75 point blank range straight through the side. The muppet drove accross in front of me just as I clicked the right mouse button, does my tree in when people do that and you are quite clearly aiming at something on the other side of the map (Campinovka) that you can hit and damage because it is side on.

To be fair I've done that from both sides. I'll quite often move forward from cover to take a shot while looking through my zoomed sniper view, meaning I can't see if there's a guy on my outside also trying to take a shot. It also leads to the annoying problem of trying to reverse back in to cover and finding someone's in the way, but st happens.

I only played three last night but it was productive, elited my Jackson (*whispers* I prefer the Jackson to the Hellcat) and researched the last item on the ISU so just the 176k XP to go 'til the Ob 407...

Apparently the Hellcat's getting hit with the nerf bat in the next update so you're already in a good position. I hate the bloody things but my only experience of them has been from the wrong end biggrin

Best tank in the game IMHO. So many different way that it can be played - you never find yourself on a map or in mm where you feel that at a major disadvantage.

I got a 1hr ban for "team killing" doing the same thing the other night which infuriated me that much that I wrote a complaint ticket. I was on Himmelsdorf in my T-18 and had just lined myself up behind the bit of broken wall at one end of the long street to take out another T-18 when some idiot on my team positioned himself right across the front of me as I fired. The result was it took 75% of his health off him.

WG replied stating that it was an automated system that monitors friendly fire, there was nothing they could do, here's a link to our FAQ about it, blah blah blah. rolleyes It's not right that you should get penalised/suspended for other players being thick cs.
