Could this be the title to make the PS4 worth buying?
Right now my PS4 is an expensive netflix box.

Indeed, I had planned my usual tactic of buying one to supplement to Xbox. IE, play exclusives on the PS4 and play everything else on the Xbox. However, there is just nothing on the PS4 at the moment to make it worth shelling out for, so I'm going to wait for this to draw near, and hopefully see another price drop of techn revision in the meantime.

So, what do we think this Bloodborne will end up as? A shiny, next-gen Dark Souls-esque title set in a Victorian horror setting?
I Think Dark Souls in a Victorian setting, a sort of Van Helsing feel to it all, would be brilliant!

PS blog about it.

My first invasion. Invaded 2 guys in the Hemwick Charnel Lane.

Very good!

Getting invaded in Byrgenwerth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLO-WUKOg90

BTW, In case someone doesn't know. THe amount of insight you carry changes the game, some enemies have special attacks / buffs that they only use past 15 insight. If you want to see some very creepy things, get up to 40 insight.

I just beat the 3 bosses in the Forbidden Woods. Now doing some chalice dungeons for gems and trying to invade people.

Spoiler below for 40+ insight in Cathedral Ward.

Spent about 3hrs shouting at my TV, finally killed the cleric beast... Only to find I didn't need to!

This game is extremely irritating and yet I can't stop...
It's optional, but the badge you get for beating it unlocks purchases in the store in the Hunters Dream.

One of the items unlocks a shortcut if you want access to a certain area a little bit earlier / easier.

I'm having so much trouble on the Undead Giant in the Lower Pthumerian Labyrinth Layer 2.

EVen at 31 VIT and full HP, a few of his attacks are one hit kills!

I'm still absolutely loving this. Surely, this will be the game of the year.

I've just done the trek down into Old Yharnam. It's the Blighttown of Bloodborne, certainly! One trip to a final destination, and then back again. I had heard of the Blood Starved Beast being a stumbling point, but I kicked his arse with relative ease. Sticking close to him, dodging diagonally past his attacks and striking his back legs was what worked for me. I only used three antidotes but when I first died at his hands, it was after losing about 80% of my health from one combo and taking poison on top of it. Annoying, the animation to take an antidote is slower and easier to interrupt than drinking a blood vial.

This morning saw me take an unexpected trip to the Unseen Village, although I quickly found my way home. I'm loving the overall layout and design, so many shortcuts and layers to discover.
Did you kill the guy on the tower ?

If not, don't. Come back to him later once you defeat the boss in the unseen village. You'll get a shortcut to Old Yarnham so you can approach him without him seeing you. If he doesn't ever spot you he doesn't aggro and you can talk to him.

I got into Iosefkas clinic and found out what was going on in there. ***Spoiler*** if you want your NPC rescues to live, don't send them to Iosefka...

The game autosaves everything. You won't lose any progress.

BUT, you have to quite the game properly or your save file could be corrupted. So press options go to system and quit. You can turn the PS4 off once you're back in the main menu.

Remember, things don't stay dead. YOu clear an area, if you leave that area and go back everything is reset.

I don't feel it's clunky at all. It's circle to run, not X.

Thanks for the replies.

I got a list of controls with the game that says X is run. Just tried O and it works, how strange.

I had a go last night and quit application rather than going through the menus. Problem solved, cheers!!
If you push the PS button and go to quit application without exiting from your current game I think you might still have a chance of corrupting your save. THe game will tell you when you start it up that you didn't quit properly.

I just use the new suspend game option.
This can apparently screw up co-oping, if the game is suspended and once you come back you can't co-op until you quit and restart the game.

I don't know if it's true.

Daughter of the Cosmos is so tough.

THe fight goes ok, I doge all her attacks and get stuck in with attacking. Normally get it down to about 20% HP then it will do a 1 hit kill attack and it's game over.

A couple of other nice moves.

Burrito combo (pvp tactic mostly, I guess). You can parry with the gun and when they stagger spam R1 right in front of them. You can sometimes get a free R1 attack in before he goes in for the visceral.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JP5t5NarC0Y

Chaining backstabs. Some weapons are so fast that you can do a charged attack to stagger for a visceral, then get a second charged attack in and restagger. Then go visceral attack.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0haEeUWP88

Parry / Riposte with the Cannon. You need a trick weapon that can shoot and use that to parry. Then riposte with the cannon for huge damage. Even better if you use Bone Ash to boost gun power.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrOakAdTuJE

Massive damage with the flamethrower. Parry, then when they are staggered unleash a normal attack with flamethrower. Even better if you use oil urn first. Yeah, that's almost 20,000 damage in one attack...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGFi88vHjYM&fe...

Also, use both forms of your weapon. If you're close enough R1 then transform with L1, if they get hit by the transformation... That's a guard break.

I don't know if people are using the notes system but if you see a note you like or that helped, rate it fine.

The person who left the note gets a message saying "One of your notes was rated fine" and they get full hp. That can help! Especially if it happens in a boss fight.

Invaded someone at the start of Nightmare Frontier.

I ran back to a nice dueling area and was all prepared to wave and let him kill the beast that sits there then we can 1v1. He threw a firebomb at my face while I was trying to wave! How rude!
