Defo a spectrum game or two should have made it. Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy, Wheelie, Jet-PAC or Trans-am.
Glad Shenmue1 made it. Still to play Shenmue2. Have it on Dreamcast and the not so good dubbed xbox version..
Dreamcast was way ahead if it's time :-)
My thoughts exactly, almost everything on that list is a bit modern.Glad Shenmue1 made it. Still to play Shenmue2. Have it on Dreamcast and the not so good dubbed xbox version..

I remember being truely stunned the first time i saw jet pac on the spectrum, and manic miner was epic. the next ground breaking moment I remember was Driver on the ps1...
no wolfenstien or die hard on there either
WOW. Poor list. for me, in NO order:
Unreal Tornament (better than Goldeneye IMHO)
Total Anihilation (Best RTS ever, and I love the old Westwood C&Cs)
Crimson Skies (Fantastic story, world, and physics for its time)
Halo:Combat Evloved (Changed FPS for a generation)
Starwars: KOTOR (Best Starwars franchise game ever?)
Pokemon Red & Blue (brought RPGs to the masses)
Toca 2 (no racing game has come close to this touring car game for me!)
Civilization 5: Brave New World (The finest turn-based strategy ever??? came on leaps and bounds rom previous editions, finally)
GTA: Vice City (80's satire, great gameplay, my favourite GTA)
Metal Gear Solid (tough, but rewarding)
Almost:
Crash Bandicoot
C & C Red Alert 2
Age of Empires 2
Starwars: Battlefront
Mass Effect
The Total War series?
Forza Motorsport
Wipeout
Bomberman
Tekken 2
Operation Flashpoint - Ahead of its time!

The problem with these lists is there is always a load of games in them that you have never played although they probably are great.
Games that would be in my list are:-
- Rome: Total War
- Timesplitters 2
- Micro Machines (Megadrive)
- Battlefield: Bad Company games (I prefer these to the newer ones)
I was thinking the other day about how good Red Dead Redemption was and wondering if they were going to make a sequel.
For better or worse I barely get to play games any more. It'd be nice to be able to plonk down and lose myself in a couple of hours of next gen gaming, but I'd rather go to bed these days. Must be getting old.

I think this had a HD remake on the Playstation / Xbox ?
Do you know if it's worth playing ?
It was definitely worth playing, just not sure how the cell shading graphics would work in HD. The rough and ready cartoon style look was really brilliant at the time. I'm sure if I had a Dreamcast handy it would still fresh.Do you know if it's worth playing ?

The list suffers the same problem that imdb does. The old games people have forgotten but people play something great and give it a 10. Just check out the top 100 films on imdb, way to many mediocre films and far to many in the top 100. Inception the 13th best film ever made... Yeah right.
The gaming list will be mostly populated by 15 year olds votes which haven't heard of the classics.
Spot on!The gaming list will be mostly populated by 15 year olds votes which haven't heard of the classics.

Who won this coveted top spot, why, Robbie Williams of course!
I really need to try 'the last of us'.
Yeah it's not a great list, or at least it's bespoke to younger gamers as everyone else has said.
I play quite regularly, but I don't play many games so I can't really comment on most of them - one thing that strikes me though - GTA V (which is a masterpiece in my mind and easily top 3) only one place ahead of Red Dead Redemption? Seriously.
I really like Red Dead Redemption, it would make my top 100 easily, but it's by no means a perfect product, it's horribly glitchy, the map is massive, but it's 99% just empty space, which I know is how it should be, but when you're limited to horseback it's pointlessly big, the display/HUD thing is terrible and the AI of the baddies is dire - things like water being instadeath really shouldn't be on that era of game.
