Xbox 360 or PS3

Been toying with the idea of a 360 for a little while now, but I've also wanted to wait for the PS3, what's the spec looking like for the PS3?
What do 360 owners think of the system? Are there any good games around at the moment (I tend to enjoy footy games, driving and stuff like Rainbow Shield)
I'm assuming nobody is doing any form of discounts on the 360 yet?

When did they announce that? I thought it was being released worldwide in November?
A few weeks ago, was on Radio 1 news.
Umm dunno about that... virtually every site I've been on is saying its a definate worldwide release for this November as stated at a Sony press conference in the middle of march - all latest news i've heard about it is to do with price, not when its coming out as that seems to have been clarified
as the others have already said, the PS3 will not be out till 2007.
1080p is the upper hand over the eggsbocks 360 BUT sony is rumoured to also have the Ageia PPU (Physic Processing Unit) also, if true this will be noticably better than the 360.
I also was going to hold of, but instead bought the 360 and will get the PS3 when its out aswell.
the blue ray drive excuse is, well, an excuse, the real hardware issue is for the Xrimm memory, yeilds are not good but also the developers are not ready, so no games means no sales, the memory issue will be sorted soon if not already, blue ray drives are availible now for PC's (and the media to use in them)

hmmm I'm not gonna do either at the moment
Seems to me Sony are fairly confident with this one - the March 2007 was never an official launch date just a guesstimate, this is official. And judging by the number of game developers releasing details of their upcoming games for it I wouldnt like to guess either way.
I guess we'll soon find out after the E3 Playstation conference next month

My understanding that it was always a March '06 release date, and that was only a rumour. The Summer release date I've never heard of. The November release date was released at an Official conference, not a rumour.
It would make much more financial sense for them to release it in the run up to Christmas, but as always with Sony, I guess only time will tell

Id say go for a 360 today. Whats the point in waiting. Life is too short. The 360 is leagues ahead of the PS2, its been out for a while - get stuck in there!

the basis of your argument is seriously flawed here my mere mortal friend, official sony release does not hold any weight, bet me the money!!!!
FYI march 06 was the original official launch date, now november 06, so jap launch november (cmon they always do that) then the USA (cos us europeans aint worth as much as them, fact) so lets say US launch a month after jap, sony sell more than they can make, Europe gets it in march 07, sounds fairly logical to me, a non nieve chap who has been working in "computer games hardware" for 8 years . . . . . . . .

If it was a Japan release only in november then yes i'd agree with you that we'd get it later in 2007, but why would they specifically state a release tactic thats abnormal for console releases if they weren't going to follow through with it? Plus as I said,makes much more financial sense for the run up to Xmas.
If you think about it, Novemeber would be the time Europeans would be getting it if they had a Japan -> USA -> Europe launch with the original March launch. So a worldwide launch of novemeber would be sticking to their original "plan" of being released worldwide before xmas this year which as I said would make much more sense to them.
I don't believe anyone to be honest but I prefer to put more faith in what I've read/heard from a variety of different sources rather than just the PH masif
