Trailer for the game released today in Developer Direct.

Part of the Forza Monthly stream tomorrow will be talking about it.

500+ cars from launch, 100 of them new to FM games, new graphics, new sound, new tracks. Xbox Game Pass and Steam. I think it will probably be a late 2023 release, with lots of drip feed details online and at shows like E3 until then

I'm looking forward to it muchly, 7 came out in 2017, there have been 2 Horizon games since then, it will hopefully be good to get back to a Motorsport game.

But the Playground guys have to get the second Horizon 5 DLC out first. Not sure how a bunch of them leaving to form Maverick games and make their own racing game will affect that...

The motorsport titles have only ever been pure racing. There may have been some fun options for online play like car football or skittles if I remember correctly and not mixing it up with Horizons but they are totally optional
I think that started as a Top Gear DLC with Dunsfold track and some SIARPC cars.

Launch announced for October 10th. I'll probably get it as the Game Pass premium add on. I'm away on holiday for the week of October 10th though, so I might get some time with the 5 days early on Premium, or it might get left until I'm back.

500 cars and only 100 new ones. This is the problem with racing games, there simply aren't enough new cars coming out to keep it fresh. I hope the new Le Mans hypercars make it into the game, especially the Peugeot, though Forza, even in the motorsport games, has been frustratingly focused on SUVs and other rubbish which bloat the lineup and take developer resources away from adding interesting and fun cars.
The Cadillac is the cover car, so at least one new Le Mans car will be in the game.

The car list for the initial game https://forza.net/news/forza-motorsport-car-list

The most recent F1 cars I can see are the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 and 1990 Ferrari 641. Previous motorsports had modern F1 cars, FM7 had the Renault RS 17, so hopefully something 2000s or even something with the 2022 rules is coming. An Alpine if the relationship with Renault is still there.

The concept of being able to remove upgrades from your car struck me as a bit silly to begin with - and it is - but it’s also quite useful because you can do a race series in a car then get you car points back to tune the car for your next one.

Still, over complicated. What’s wrong with just using money?

Gaaaaah wait a minute. I just went and took all the upgrades off my Impreza so I had 4150 car points available. Back to my supra, 300 available. WTF?

I also managed to make the game freeze a couple of times.

Oh dear.

What a mess, complexity for the sake of it.

It looks like you can indeed reclaim car points for mods you’ve made to a car but only redeem them on that same car.

No need.

Yeah as I understand it the car points/mods are specific to that car and that car only. For example, if you unlocked a load of mods for your Impreza and then went and bought another Impreza, you wouldn't be able to apply any mods to the new one until you'd levelled it up. Wierdly strict.
Can you save and load different tune setups to the same car? Like in Horizon where I've got a car with setups for differen pi levels or for road races, rally and cross country?

To answer my own questions, it looks like you can.

I got started tonight after downloading a 1.6GB update, and did the intro championship 3 races in the Civic, then received the bonus cars into the garage. My Civic went to level 12 through the races and got as far as unlocking gearbox mods and tyre compounds. I'll get into the game proper tomorrow night. From what I've played so far it's alright, I haven't had any of the AI weirdness like stopping on corners (yet). Manual with clutch will take some getting used to, I'm sticking with plain manual for now (on a controller).

I've had the game freeze when applying upgrades between races in a series a couple of times. Both times I got the points for the race I just did but had to rerun the practice and race, so it gave me one race worth of extra upgrade points over the series. One thing I've noticed is the cars jumping out of your way when you get up the inside into a corner, they put themselves off the track and lose a load of places or depending on the track put themselves into the barrier or stuck in a gravel trap. I haven't had them stop on a corner or anything yet though.

One graphics glitch I had was a reflection of a bridge or overhead banner getting 'stuck' and flickering over the bootlid all through a race, and the shadow of the bridge flickering in front of the car across the track as I was driving around.

Question with applying the vinyls on the cars. Is the Vinyl Material setting for how glossy or matte the vinyls are still an option? I can't find it if it is, FH5 has a slider for matte or glossy graphics.

One thing I have noticed is the affliction that has affected all the Forza games.....1 or 2 speed off into the distance and the rest lag behind and if your not at least third by the second or third bend you have very little chance of catching them.
And once you do pass them, they fall back pretty quickly.

No Nurburgring is a bit annoying.
Been driving round it today in a GT-One in the wet.

The full Nordschleife is coming next year, the Nurburgring in the game now is the GP circuit.

This will probably get fixed soon, there's currently a glitch where you can mess with engine swaps and turbo conversions to bring PI levels of hypercars and supercars down to B or C class.

To get this it does mean having to drive whatever car up to level 50 and unlock the upgrades, but if they don't fix it, the B and C class Rivals are going to get topped by 350bhp Veyrons and Jeskos with all the grip in the world from race tyres and setups.

I haven't tried any tune setups from it yet, but the ForzaTune mobile app has been updated for the new game, there are free and pro versions of the app.

Updated and played it tonight, they have lowered the upgrade levels so car level 25 should have everything unlocked on car upgrades now. I did the performance car series in the top row of eve ts (the one with the 911 picture) and by the time I'd finished that series I had unlocked all the upgrades and got to about level 26 or 27.

I also didn't get a crash when upgrading cars between races. Fingers crossed with the crashes, but they are fixing things.

Matt Cup is that the Forza Edition Mercedes? I ran that car and changed the wheels and it hasn't done that here. I'm on Xbox Series X.

Is the German Sedans event borked? I've completed it twice now, then I get a crash, when I reload it's back to one race complete. This time it crashed when I'd completed it and was buying the car for the JDM event that's after it. Up until this weekend I'd been getting on with the game and shrugged crashes off. This one event is testing me.
