GT6 to feature Goodwood hillclimb

See Goodwood and drive it (virtually) at the Festival of Speed this weekend

As if the PlayStation vs. Xbox debate needed further fuel, Gran Turismo has announced something of a circuit coup; the sixth generation of the real driving simulator will feature the Goodwood hillclimb course for the first time.

Lord March's 1.1-mile driveway has been faithfully recreated by Kazunori Yamauchi and the Gran Turismo team ready for a GT6 demo at the Festival of Speed this weekend. Fans will be given the opportunity to drive the course virtually in a variety of cars, although the list is currently unconfirmed.

The 'race pods' featuring the game will be available at the family area and the Goodwood hotel, whilst Nissan and Alfa Romeo will have permanent pods on their stands throughout the weekend.

Lord March commented on the hillclimb's inclusion: "I feel proud and honoured that the Festival of Speed has been chosen to showcase Gran Turismo 6 globally, as I cannot think of a more fitting gaming partner for this celebration of motor sport and car culture".

GT is 15 this year, the FoS 20. Feel old much?

Kazunori Yamauchi added: "Goodwood represents every type of motoring and motorsport which very much mirrors what we aim to achieve with Gran Turismo and so it is very special that we have forged this partnership".

GT6 is expected on PS3 by the end of 2013. So far, around 1,200 cars and 71 tracks are expected, the latter list including Silverstone for the first time with notable cars including the LCC Rocket and Tesla Model S. Forza 5, your move...

GT6 will first come out for the PS3. There are plans for a PS4 version down the road: http://www.vg247.com/2013/06/13/gran-turismo-6-wil...

I would imagine there are plans for the circuit. I'll be disappointed if it isn't included.

Kaz has clarified the above since and said that before the PS4 version is thought about any further until GT6 on the PS3 has been "fully played out" including "multiple batches of monthly updates and dlc"

So expect to wait a long time

Seems like GT has better tracks than Forza. The new Forza looks like the old PGR games.

Crystal Palace Circuit pleeeeeaaasse.

I wonder if they will ever be able to match Forza's attention to detail and class-leading physics though. I doubt it.

youve got to be kidding? as for the GT6 demo the physics are better in every way so should beat forza again unless Turn 10 pull off a miracle

erm....

Have both, love both, Forza4 is more 'fun' than GT5 (hands down) but physics wise GT5 is head and shoulders above IMHO. The cars feel far more connected with the road and don't have that comically easy handling model. (the Turbo's kick in on the F40 in GT5 and you really know it!!. In Forza4 it's a relative pussycat to drive). The GT6 Academy/demo is an entire new league. The way the cars weight shifts under breaking and the suspension through the corners is a massive improvement over GT5.

And as for attention to detail... Couple of examples of Kaz's totally silly anal attention to detail...
Cylinder head of the Lambo Miura... which cannot be seen... in fact the entire engine bay is modelled as is the suspension (something Forza 4 cannot do, hence no open wheel cars)

The Lamborghini stamped rubber pedals of the same car, again, GT5 has no autovista mode so these are there purely because Kaz loves all the little details. Hell, you could even say he has a "fantastic attention to detail"...

Yes, that is the headlight earth wire screwed in there inside the headlight of the Jaguar... That Lucas headlight with all the correct part numbers etched on the glass from the actual car...

Also lets remember GT6 is a PS3 game and considering the age of the hardware I think it is amazing that some people are comparing it to Forza5. If he can make 6 look this good on a PS3 what the hell will GT7 look like on the PS4.

I'm sure that Forza 5 will be great and I have had huge fun with Forza4 (I even enjoyed Horizon hehe ) but lets not get too far into the "my game is better than your game" route. We should be glad we get such amazing choices.

ps. The cars in Forza4 auto vista mode are specifically modelled for that mode... the game car does not use the same 3d model. I know this is different in 5 due to the power of the hardware but you cannot really same "autovista are better" because that is not like for like. Those shots above are of the in game car you drive.

pps. Yeah, I know, premium cars and standard cars etc... you got me there winklaugh

GT6 will be another crushing disappointment, riddled with game breaking shortcuts just as GT5 was. The fag lighter for the 16 near identical Skylines will be beautifully rendered though. laugh

Better shout than the TG track was, despite the obvious marketing benefits it was pretty rubbish to drive in Forza. The areas of driving and physics a game cannot yet emulate we're very much missed.

This should be a right giggle.

For me, the GT series of games have always fallen short on engine noises. They've always sounded tinny & artificial, unlike Forza. I hope this is improved for the new GT!
