Thanks for all the replies above, didn't occur to me there were different versions.
Same as the Mini2, you have the Mini 2 and Mini 2 SE.Just as an aside, for those of us with the Mini 2, if you want follow me function then if you buy the Litchi app then it gives you that very function. Mind you, the way the legislation is going i don't think it will matter before too long especially now that Amazon have announced they are going to start trialling drone deliveries in the UK
Might be interesting for the follow me though
I live under a flight path for a major airport. Local plod is going to start using drones to patrol the roads in an effort to prevent road accidents. Amazon to start using drones for deliveries.
At this rate, there won't be any airspace left to use a drone in for a hobby flyer.

Haven't looked at the mini 2 se. Be interested how those who have one find the camera/ video quality? Mine would only be used to 'mess around' with so wondering if it's a good compromise? Can you use the smart controller? (if that's the one with the built in screen?) or does it attach to your phone for the screen?
The Fly more combo is coming in at about £440, rather than over £900 for the mini 3 pro fly more combo.

From memory and if i'm wrong I am sure someone will correct me, the SE shoots in 2.7K whereas the 2 can film in 4K, think the Mini 2 has better picture quality so it all depends upon what you want to do with the pictures really.
If you plan on using them as some sort of hobby type things where you could potentially sell them, then i would say opt for the Mini 2 over the SE, if you just want to fly about, have a laugh and are not bothered about the picture quality, then the SE will most likely be the drone for you.
Or you could just wait and see what the new Mini 4 can do that will be so different to all the rest but it will command a premium that is for sure.

So the Mini 2 and the Mini 2 SE both use your phone as the screen, the main difference for me is the SE mounts the phone below the controller, whereas the 2 mounts it above the controller and therefore for me at least, less neck ache bending down.

Thanks for that. Looking at the kits, and looking at some you tube reviews, it seems like the Mini 2 SE uses the same controller as the Mini 2, the phone sits above the controller on both. The picture quality seems really good on the SE, even though it's 2.7k, not 4k. That seems to be the main difference in the two that I can see, it's whether having the 4k is worth another £130-£150?
It would be more of a hobby for me at the moment, I'd love the mini 3 pro or mini 4 but I just can't really justify £1000'ish.
I'll be the same as normal, can't make a decision and will ming around for so long the mini 7 will probably be out before I get one

Weirdly, the Mini 4 Pro is cheaper than the Mini 3 Pro and the last time i checked, the SE had the phone underneath but has two antenna that stick up above the controller but i could well be wrong. Yes the extra is wirth it for 4K though
The mini 4 pro looks like a serious bit of kit. Maybe I'll wait and try and save up. That'll be far more than i'll ever need.nordboy said:

This was the phone controller I received with my Mini 2 SE, the phone sat below the controllerFrankly, attaching the phone each time was a a bit of a faff and part of the reason I sold it on the Bay and went for a Mini Pro 3 with dedicated controller - if I was doing that today it would be for a Mini Pro 4
All the website specs, including the DJI website are showing the supplied remote as the DJI RC-N1. On that one the phone sits above the controller, so maybe they've upgraded it from the early models?
I've been doing a lot of looking, as much as I'd really like a mini 3 or mini 4 pro, I can't justify (or afford tbh) the near enough £1000 for it. The only option would be to get a used one but not sure I'm keen on risking it.
So, at the moment I'm not seeing much past the Mini 2 SE with the fly more combo at about £420-£440'ish.

The mini 2 se fly more combo is now at £379 from Amazo n. Is anyone running a Potensic drone?
The brand new sub 250g 4k drone is out and the fly more combo kit is £315 from am azon.
It seems to get good reviews apart from the still pic quality and not being able to add filter option.
Seems to be aimed at the dji mini 2 se, which was the one i was thinking of getting, which is approx £380 for the fly more combo. No 4k on the mini 2 se though.

The Costco deal had the controller with the screen (DJI min3)
Showing still at £450.
That's a good shout. Haven't really looked at the standard mini 3. The only issue is that I really wanted extra batteries which adds cost on.Showing still at £450.
Just used mine to do a roof survey for a local pub, they had a leak and identified some of their flashing had moved, without the need for ladders/access etc.

It's interesting how people have a different approach. I used to think that attaching my phone to the Mini 2 controller was a faff, but having had the Mini 3 Pro (Controller with the inbuilt screen) i've noticed the following:Frankly, attaching the phone each time was a a bit of a faff and part of the reason I sold it on the Bay and went for a Mini Pro 3 with dedicated controller - if I was doing that today it would be for a Mini Pro 4
- Controller takes longer to boot up and pair with the drone than hooking up my phone and paring with the Mini2
- Controller screen is worse for glare (so purchased a matt screen cover to conbat that)
- Signal penetration of trees etc. isn't as consistent on the new one
- Have issues every time I fly with drone / controller connecting to my phone, so don't get easy unlocking of geo zones, nor do I get the live maps.
I'm also underwhelmed with the dynamic range, colour palette, noise and vignetting from the camera, but that's for another whinge...
