I have the 24-70mm 2.8 L lens. I think that it is excellent, though have found that it distorts the edge of the picture badly at 24mm, suffering also from a lack of sharpness and noticeable colour fringing. I find it to be a very versatile lens, but would prefer a 24-85mm range (I use it with a 1DS body.)

The 70-200mm 2.8 IS lens forms the perfect partner to it, though after a few hours of using this with a big Metz you really do feel like you've had a really good workout.

I guess your decision must be based on the type of photography that you do and what focal lengths you tend to use most. If you do mainly portraiture I would say that this was not really an appropriate lens. You would definitely find the 28-135mm more versatile (that is if you are using a body that uses the whole chip). I have not used this particular lens, so am unable to comment on its technical capabilities. It may be worth visiting www.dpreview.com, reading some of their reviews and downloading some of their test shots.
