Right here, optician tells me I have a very dominant eye.

Just tried to put my left eye to the viewfinder and it took several attempts to line it up properly.
Always assumed to take a portrait photo you had to turn the camera anticlockwise and twist your hand over the top, but trying Simpo's old method, that seems much more comfortable.

I'm a right, right man myself. But that's no suprise, most of my way of looking at things are pretty one sided!

That's an interesting test. I nearly always use my left eye in he viewfinder though I am right handed.

Trying the circle test to a door handle about 6 feet away gave a right result. But then I noticed I could eaisly make it a left result.

The pointy finger test gave a clear left result.

So I moved to a bigger room and tried the tests again with a lightswitch at about 12 feet.

Pointy finger was a clear left dominant.

Circle test I could do either side BUT the opdd thing was that making the circle with outstretched arms I could not see the light switch within it - unless I closed one or the other eye! Bringing the circle back towards my face would lock on to either a left or a right - which ever way my arms wandered off line first.

Is that normal?

Also noticed that my left eye, at 6 ft, is a tad 'soft focus' but my right is quite sharp. Strange because I have specs with a mild adjustment but identical prescription both sides.

I guess it is all just an age thing.

However the missing light switch through the 2 inch circle probably explains why I don't feel comfortable looking through the windscreen of an Audi TT!

That's quite tall for an eye!

It does need to be a fair way away, and in my opinion, the pointy finger test is more reliable and the one I use most.

You sound to be left master eye to me.

I wouldn't worry about the other stuff, if you think about it too hard you can make yourself either eye.

best to quickly point at something a few feet away and then quickly close one eye and see if your finger jumps, if it jumps, the one that is closed is your master, if it doesn't the one that is open is.

Right eye and right-handed, but I'll turn the camera clockwise or anti-clockwise for portraits depending on mood !

i am right handed but am left eyed. because i was first taught to shoot on rifles i shot right handed because it felt most compfortable to hold it that way.

but when i tried shotguns i found that i am equally bad shooting left handed as i am shooting right handed!

interesting! (ok, so its not actually that interesting, but this is my 200th post and i thought it should be something more than 1 line!)
