TBH you couldn't pay me to go on one of those overland trucks.

ETA>> And be aware that you get what you pay for. The cheaper trucks have next to nothing included and expect you to contribute to a kitty. We heard some horror stories, including one group we met in Egypt who's truck hadn't made it up there. They ended up wasting 1 month of their 4 in Egypt before having to fly to Ethiopia and racing down to Cape Town from there.

The trip to India is pretty cool too Mind you I did that in 1997, so things have probably changed a bit.

What makes you say that? Have you heard bad things about them or do you just prefer to do things your own way?

Both. Stories like the one above and not being able to go where you want when you want. We met a few of the overland truck drivers on the way and the stories they tell are pretty bad.

I think I'd still like to do a trip in one, I just done have the time or resources to plan a trip myself
