Sizing looks fine to me. A very interesting image and take on the theme.

Thanks Emma, it was just a point and click digi cam, and i've not done anything to the image editing wise.

Any advice? C&C?

By the way what are the rules for the competition regarding editing? Can you touch a photo up and make changes or is it simply "what you take?"

:cough: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... :cough:

although the sizing doesn't seem to apply, which could have an impact on the results, imho.

Hi i know nothing about photography at all but over the last last year i have just started to notice these fantastic images in wot can only be decribed as sharper than the human eye can see, infact they are visually more stunning than the human eye can see so just how much money does this kit cost to take photo's at this level and was it imposible 5 years ago smile

Mak, i'll answer as i think everyone else has fallen asleep.

you don't have to break the bank to take shots like this, i'll give you an example of my kit as with my best lense i can get pin sharp images.
i have a Canon 300D, you can get these off ebay for as little as £200 secondhand for the body and sometimes body and 18-55mm kit lense (the 18-55mm kit lense is good for snapshots but for closeup work it gives soft focus)
my best lense is the canon EF 50mm mkII F1.8 which gives me pin sharp images (if i use it right) these retail at aroun £45 brand new off ebay, it's a fixed lense so no zooming in and out, simply move closer :-D

so for around £250 you could start taking images like these.

its really good to see people are still paying attention to the 750 pixel rule in the official entry thread rolleyes

can we make it a rule that if you post stupidly large images to the offical entry thread your entry is void? Should get the message home

that's a bit harsh.

Nope, I agree. Compare a 6x4 to a 7x5 (same photo) and which would you choose? every time. Rules are the rules smile

indeed its like entering a 1000cc bike into a 125cc race, sure the better image should always win over but when you have 1 image conforming to the rules and then loads that are about 12billion pixels wide the impact of the larger size can help to overshaddow other shots

Have you got the uncropped version? It looks like it is an interesting portrait - good use of tone and differential focusing.

Not sure what to go with...

1) Youngest daughter

2) Self portraits

3)

Is there a rule that says that an image that has been entered into a comp previously, can't be re-entered? (not that it won!)

Have entered this before, seems to fit the theme, but if I'm not allowed to enter it let me know.

No, I entered it into the Youth theme, and didn't win.

Hmmmm....

With a cool name like that, I was expecting a mouse.
Or perhaps there was a mouse until...

Just 'lurking' around here.
I have just bought a digital SLR and am amazed at what it can do -
but am slightly in awe of all the photos here!
I'll have a look to see if anything fits the theme.
