The birds they mock me

Thanks fellas. I probably should have said comparatively good light, the series was taken at ISO 2500. I had to double that to 5000 for the perched shot as it suddenly got dark when it clouded over.
Very nice! I found out how hard these little fellas are to capture recently.Did you use your 1DX?

I did use my 1Dx. I shot this Kingfisher on Tuesday as well, same location and distance to subject, the difference being Tuesday had better light and I used the 2xTC. I actually prefer the 1000mm shots to the cropped 500mm shots I took today, they came out better. The light might have helped of course.
First wildlife shots with the 7D.

Got a shot of our lad's 600D for this - not bad for iso 1600 and shot through double glazing!

It took an hour of walking in the rain to get this Grey Heron this morning (then an hour to get back to the car!)

All you need now is the late Roy Castle and his trumpet!!
Here's summat you don't see every day!
A glossy ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) by the church at Frensham, near Farnham. First glossy ibis seen in Surrey for 133 years apparently
All taken with a 500mm f4 with 2x converter. Light was atrocious, so at 3200iso and 1/200th of a second was the fastest shutter speed I could get as the converter bumped the lens to f8.

Hoping to go back tomorrow am when the light is better if the cheeky blighter is still there
