My son has chicken pox
Nice use of offspring as wildlife (bit young though - that usually happens later I thought ...)Might I suggest measles next? Seems popular at the moment so shouldn't be too much of a challenge to find a source.
I think after that we might, collectively, come up with a hit list of nasty contagious eruptions (or similar) to document. Some of the throat stuff can be a bit dramatic which would make excellent subject matter but can he open his mouth wide enough for you to get the lens and flash units in close to the offending areas?
Quick outing on a whim tonight - not much around yet but managed to find a couple of victims for my new lighting rig

Thanks Ed - yes they do seem to be work rather well don't they. Do you have yours over the top of the StoFen ?Andrena chrysosceles (f) by Ed Phillips 01, on Flickr
The bracket is useful - definitely gives a bit more room around the lens, and more flexibility
PS - that wasp is insanely good, please lower the bar a bit for the rest of us would you!?

5hero: This was a six-shot hand-held (on beanbag) stack, combined using Zerene Stacker.

I remember when this thread started (years ago) Mike, looking at some great shots and thinking "I wish I could produce stuff like that". I had the Tamron 90mm macro (great lens) but knew that the MP-E 65mm was required to really do what I wanted. When I first bought it, most of what I produced was pants. It's such a difficult lens to master. I persevered though and must have taken thousands of images with it now. At first, it's satisfying just to get images reasonably lit and focussed. You then can think more about composition and refining the lighting.I think I'm finally getting the hand of it. Being retired (and having a reasonable amout of spare time to devout), definitely helps!

Yes - 3hero has got a lot to answer for hasn't he! I think I'm finally getting the hand of it. Being retired (and having a reasonable amout of spare time to devout), definitely helps!
I thought you were just a youngster Ed - now I find you are a)keeping your own bees and b) retired and with near infinite amounts of time to spare. It's not fair!

No and I don't have the money to make this visit THAT expensive . I would love both and have wanted both since you lot got me in to macro.
I used 100mm non-L and Marumi ring flash.
Yeah you heard!
Rob - you're a good looking young man in his physical prime so it's not hard to see where the fund raising opportunities lie. I reckon you need about £1500: at £50 a 'session' that makes 30 'sessions'. Call it 3 a day to allow time for you to recharge the 'batteries' and you should easily be there in a fortnight. Hop to it I used 100mm non-L and Marumi ring flash.
Yeah you heard!
