Was not much effort put into this, just took it outside my flat window. (Dundee) Was also very cloudy so there was not much point me getting out far.

How long are the lights going to stay? I might try and make more of an effort if it is clear the next few nights and get out the town area.

So, just to clarify, is tonight (Wednesday) the last day this might be viewable?

I have looked out of my lounge every night, north facing, mountains opposite, yet we have just clouds, sometimes living here is really irritating! wink

Sounds like a nice view from where you live!

Tonight is the last night. It's due to be clear here from about 10 pm. I might still be lucky.

I'm in Carlisle, which means I will have to leave town to escape light pollution... But it also gives me 4 options all within an hour's drive (or less):

1)be on a cliff top on the west coast looking out to sea.
2)be on a cliff top on the east coast looking out to sea.
3)be at the top of a Pennines hilltop in the middle of nowhere in total darkness at about 1200 feet above sea level.
4)be an hour further north into the Scottish borders.

Which one might yield the best view?

thought id bump this back up, massive solar storm heading this way so if you get a clear night theres a good chance of seeing the lights tonight.

Looks rubbish here at the moment - 100% cloud. *Might* be a small window of clear sky at 7 pm.

Same here, looking very cloudy with little chance of seeing much. Not as cold this time around, so might head out anyway smile

Nothing in Newcastle last night. Way too much cloud unfortunately.

yep too cloudy here last night too, stuck the head out the window at 11pm and noticed a faint glow to the west, tried a couple shots but way too much streetlights to make anything out.

I spent last night in an Airbus 340 over the Atlantic from Chicago to Dusseldorf, and for around an hour and a half as we flew over Iceland I was treated to one hell of an amazing lightshow at 39,000 feet...never been so angry and not having the camera to hand in my life!

We've complete cloud cover here in Aachen but can't be all that thick as we can see light up behind the clouds to the North, going to grab the camera now and see what I can pick up.
