Credit must go to my youngest daughter (5) as this started off as a funny snap shot, but possibly a fun contender for the compo? CD choice has nothing to do with me BTW laugh

Probably not "eyeish" enough but this sheep just looked very wise and distinguished and just stared at me as I walked past it...could not resist a shot!

I've narrowed it down to these 3 - any thoughts?

One of our Goldfish - used to be all yellow, now going albino...no idea why!

An old lantern - slightly different take..

decided to go with this that i took today especially for the comp.
the dragonfly had just that second landed with a bug that he ripped apart and was happily crunching on.

It's out of focus, he's covered in a horrid green slime and there's a petal on the water in the foreground which makes the picture look messy.

But it's one of the favourite pictures I've taken! smile

this dragonfly had just ripped the bug apart and could be heard crunching it's exoskeleton.
that is superb - what lens/extension tube (presumably?) combination did you use?
believe it or not it was a cheap 100mm macro lense that came with the camera (Canon 300D)
thanks very much for the comments, it's always nice to know.

I guess this one fits the theme and it was taken this month (and it's of a PH'er!).

apologies for posting on the wrong thread - will pay more attention next time

how did you get so close without it flying away?

i wouldn't worry about posting in the wrong thread, loads of people do it by mistake.
in my local park at Lincoln (Hartsholme park) there is a large field where conservationists have placed large piles of silverbirch logs where if you are quiet and move slowly you'll see grass snakes, common lizards and dragonflies basking on them, this one let me get extremely close as it was too busy ripping the beetle apart and eating it to worry about me getting so close, i think i was about a foot away and took roughly 20 shots this being one of my favourites.

the lense isn't brilliant and does give a slightly soft focus shot, i've hardly anything with this shot in paintshop, maybe a little re-sharpening.

Paul.
