My 100-400 IS arrived in the post a few hours ago. Couldnt wait for the postman to arrive this morning! Thought Id share my first shots!

Very nice.

If anyone's lusting for one of these, I might consider selling mine........

Not because I don't like it or there's anything wrong, but to fund a Sigma 120-300 2.8

You think you can live without IS? That said, there's not much in the IS range that's nice in F stops that's also a zoom.

Yeah, it'll always be on a monopod or tripod, and I have a 70-300 DO IS on my 20D for handheld stuff. I really want the 2.8 on my 1D for the best AF.

I aspire to taking pictures of that quality.

Thanks for your comments Ian!

The IS is quite good I think, I dont know really because i havent compared it on and off. All shots hand held at 400mm. Gotta get a monopod, its pretty tiring holding it up after half an hour!

There was one of those in the garden, but it flew off before i could take the photo.

NB: D70 owners are never wrong - you need a visit to ze Correction Camp for reprogramming...

From the Madeira parrot park last week. Shows you can focus to quite a close distance with the 100-400. Lack of contrast is due to it being taken through bars.
