My fellow Nikonians,
I bring to you news of the worst order. I have been speaking to a mate tonight who is in a fine position financially to purchase the legendary D70, yet he is questioning this plan by considering a 350D as well. Even worse, he's a PHer...
Now this travesty must be stopped and I feel it is important to let him know what he is missing out on, so I call on you to convince him otherwise in the medium of posts on this forum.
yes i know... mad post... i blame GT4...

nah, get the canon
National paper today had a Jessops Ad for the 350D at what seemed like a very reasonable price - for a new model from such a source.
I'm expecting to find one included in my next pack of Corn Flakes as soon as Jessops have offloaded the initial shipment.
Well I sold a Canon Eos 10 and bought a D70.
Getting on much better now. Its a much more intuitive camera and works more quickly.
The Canon's take forever to power up and even longer to scroll through preview shots on the screen, while the D70 is much faster and snappier.
D70 so cheap these days you can buy loads of memory and cover lots of print costs.
No brainer really.

Very bad basis for comparison. Both the 20D and the 350D have the new DIGICII chip, meaning they turn on faster than you can operate the power switch and press the shutter. Watching the images played back on the screen is like watching a real-time movie.
They are now both quicker than the D70.
The D70 is however a good camera, and at 6Mp is comparable to the 8Mp 350D. Read the reviews at www.dpreview.com and www.steves-digicams.com, go in a camera shop and try them both and see what you like.
I'm only with Canon because I have been for years and have a large selection of lenses. To be honest you should worry more about the glass. I have spent orders of magnitude more money on glass than I have on bodies...

If he's really wavering, Grays of westminster have a second hand D70 at in incredibly reasonable price (gbp 495 body only, classed as mint - ). Knowing Grays mint - will mean you'll have trouble telling it's been used at all.
