Original is better and I'm sorry, but not as good as the dandelion (IMHO).

You've set a very high standard there....!

I like the first one, it has more impact in a 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids' kind of way. Talking of kids, I'm looking forward to the impending baby pics thread . Good luck and I hope all goes smoothly .

I must admit I prefer the dandelion in your first thread Mrs F. That is a wonderful image and sets you a very high standard to follow

I must admit to several months, possibly even years, of not understanding Ye Olde Photoshoppe - it being all new-fangly-techno-trickery to me.

Not that I understand it now!

But - it's worth considering carefully where you adjust any parameter, contrast being a good example, in terms of

a) the entire image
b) the part of the image which is your focal point.

"auto-contrast" gives you a "splash-all-over" feel.

It's a bit like a car wash - it's going to attack every bit of the body work, not just the dirty bits!

Lisa - sorry, not meant as a criticism, just a comment. I like the image, and I think my approach would be to achieve the contrast that you want in the plant where YOU want it (not where PS wants it!) first and foremost.

To be honest it didn't make a fat lot of difference to the image really

Don't worry about it. Sometimes I'll start with the original image, make four or five different versions, and still not decide which is best.

I'm currently struggling to select 10 photos for the Manningtree Festival from about 60... do I pick ones most likely to sell, or the most arty ones? Finally decided on 5 of each

I love websites like that.... Don't tell you an address of anything without going hunting!

Eurodisney is a classic. Want to find out what French postcode to put into your sat nav to get there - you can't - it doesn't have a postal address anywhere on the whole dam website (I know, I spent about 30 minutes looking)!

Anyway, after a bit of clicking, I got
www.manningtreefestival.co.uk/tickets.asp

which gave

Notions Ltd
28 High Street
Manningtree
Essex
CO11 1BB

So - yep - guess it's in Essex!

Tee hee - well I suppose it's basically a local event, and if you don't know where Manningtree is, then you're probably too far away to want to go!

However, it's a pretty little town on the River Stour halfway between Colchester (that's in Essex) and Ipswich (which is in Suffolk), and you can feed the swans at Mistley, explore Dedham Vale/Flatford/Constable country... so if you all have nothing better to do...?
