Fuji S602z and Nissin 360TW

I've got a Fuji s602z and I'm just "disposing of" my Dad's camera gear. There is a Nissin 360TW flash which I have bolted onto the top of it but can't seem to get it to work. The unit flashes when the trigger button is pressed but not when the shutter button is pressed.

Is the flash compatible with the camera and is there something else to do?


Incidentally, what is the best way of getting rid of his camera?

It's a Canon AL-1 and has a few lenses including an 80-250mm one.

Evidently not; replace with recommended flash

Unless you know someone who wants it, I'd suggest eBay. You'll probably get more if you sell the lenses in separate auctions.

I assumed because it was the same standard fitting, any flash would work? I don't especially need a separate flash unit but I thought I'd keep it if it was compatible rather than selling it.

Oh no. All flashguns use the same shoe shape, but the layout of the various contacts, trigger voltages and god-knows-what-else make a chance compatiblilty pretty remote. You can also damage the camera. As electrickery advances, you're increasingly forced towards the maker's own flash units.
