Sorry guys I don't have a top of the range DSLR, just a small Fuji with 10x zoom and I have never photo'd planes before but I hope my Thursday & Friday pics give you a taster of the weekend ahead. Also found a wicked spot to view from for free almost directly under the flight path in the centre of the runway.

Great captures those two.

Equipment really can be irrelevant- ok you would have got a better range of tones on the aircraft and more detail and probably ended up with a better photograph but it would only have been better "technically".

You've captured the moment really well with those two

Thanks Martin, Graham those two were ones that I thought were a bit iffy, my favourite is the F16 with g smoke, I did not realise that PH shrunk the pics as they have gone a bit blocky, the full size ones are here:

Well done. Which Fuji camera do you have?

Fuji S5500.

I read these forums back to front for tips, tried manual focus, aperture priority, shutter priority and all with bracketing to try and get a good exposure, I thought a small aperture might help me with the focus as you get a bigger depth of field as my focus always seems a bit iffy.

I'm one of those people who things sharp focus can go hang in favour of an interesting composition

There's a sense of movement just gone in the case of the F16 (that Dutchman's good at evoking that as part of the display anyway )

The Arrows and airliner just hint at being incomplete. I'm not sure whether it's just the fact there are a few arrows out of shot (you'd have to know there should be 9) or what but the lack of symmetry just strikes me as an interesting image.
