funny pic . reminds me of this: http://russelldavies.typepad.com/planning/images/s...
great shot, nicely framed but not quite ordinary enough to be a winner sorry.

great use of light here to lift the scene. just needs to be a little straighter for me to really make the most out of the geometric forms.

wow. that crisp packet make that beer look so good....i'm off for a pint.(did you know that they use silver reflectors behind bottles ect in adverts?. very well composed image without looking like you thought about it. the guy in the background swigging his beer is great and the pint receding into the background give nice depth to the pic. would have been a smash hit but the hand creeping in with one finger on the crisps bugged me a bit. makes it look a bit contrived which is at odds with the snapshot aesthetic.
PODIUM!
3rd place:
Last Stop
air and water.simple but stunningly pretty image. love the way the light rays contrast with the shape of the bubble. vignette keeps the eye from wandering too far.a very calming image.
2nd place:
Daisy Duke
someone's been watching american beauty!
great image tho (better than that guy's video in the film)
love the tones in the sky with the orange of the plastic bag. the texture the backlighting pick's up really lifts this pic. kind of topical too with M&S starting to charge for them now and talk of them even being banned. well done!
1st place:

this image has drama. those diagonals pushing the eye towards that phone-towering above- suggestively just off hook.
who just called/who's about to call. the garish lighting, grime and graffiti tell me it's going to be trouble.
nice work and a well deserved winner
look forward to next months theme!
thanks,
rick.

Seriously genuinely gob smacked!!!
I was reading the thread photo by photo getting more and more disheartened then bam there it is! Thank you for picking mine and well done to the others. I personally think this month was an excellent topic as it was so generic it could cover anything yet at the same time specific enough to narrow it down in each field.
The discussion and the entry thread had a real amount of effort put in as the topic was something anyone could enter and think about. I had no inclination as to winning so I will think of a topic tonight and get back to you all tomorrow - if you have any suggestions put them here!!
For me, the shot I saw and thought "oh f**k" was
There were some great abstracts in there which is a reflection on what a good theme it was.
My shot was taken of a phone box oposite my other halfs house. Usually there is a sordid group of peopele using it to arrange pick ups/drop offs or what not but on this particular night the fog was pea soup thick, down to a few feet at times. I'm not a huge fan of HDR but felt it was worth a shot at this one and really pleased with the result but I was going to change the entry at the last minute.

I have no idea what it is or how it was done and seriously thought gameover when it was there so as I hadn't seen it in this thread as I scrolled down thats what I was expecting in first place. There were some great abstracts in there which is a reflection on what a good theme it was.
