Tamron 150-600mm f5-6.3 SP Di VC USD anyone got one?
Discussion
Hi All,
I have been looking at a decent replacement for my 70-300 Nikon VR lens, something a little faster and the Tamron seems to get good reviews in this area (and overall), BUT, I really want a review off someone who owns one, it will be used later on this year when I (hopefully) get around Scotland, taking a few wildlife and Landscape pictures with my D750 and D7100 (may as well try it on both).
It looks to be a good all rounder with decent bokeh and good through the 150-600mm range, and it comes with a 5 year warranty, the down side is its 2kg in weight so will be a bit of a beast to carry around.
I see Sigma do a similar one but having had one Tamron already (15-30mm F2.8), I really like their lenses for what you get.
Opinions??
Thanks![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

A couple with that lens on my D7100.. These are mostly at 550mm if I recall.

It's annoying that they do a Sony version of this lens, but take off the VC.
Even more annoying is that it's still the same price as the Canon or Nikon!
I've sold it now, but I was fairly sure from memory it did have VC? I remember turning it off when I was using a tripod.Even more annoying is that it's still the same price as the Canon or Nikon!

Pretty sure it doesn't have VC ![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
The lens name is actually different for the Sony mount, the "VC" is missing, it's the Tamron 150-600mm f5-6.3 Di USD:

They are of course correct that the A-mount bodies have in-body stabilisation, but it would be nice to use this lens on an A6000 using the Sony LA-EA4 adaptor and that doesn't have in-body stabilisation.
It's not just this lens either, all the Tamron lenses which have VC for Canon/Nikon are "VC-less" for Sony A-mount.
Not the end of the world, just a bit annoying

Best money ever spent; use it with Sony A77 and A77II (no VC). Camera, double battery grip and lens around 3,5kg total but you'll get used to the weight. Rarely use a shoulder strap, but on the rare occasion a Black Rapid is fine for longer walks. I would recommend getting a neoprene (cammo) cover; protects from scratches and light rain.
95mm lens protectors are expensive but got a Marumi from Amazon at a reasonable price.
A great, versatile lens; I do not think you will be disappointed.
£10k+ lenses are arguably better; not that I really care![drink](/inc/images/drink.gif)
