Fan override bits still haven't arrived. Bit annoying they won't be fitted before the trackday. If they arrive in the morning I may take them to the track to fit during cool down breaks.

Did tidy up the passenger footwell. The large alarm unit is up there too so it needs some redistribution.



Cleared footwell allows for this.



Didn't get the driver's one in as time slipped away. Again, annoying ahead of the trackday but no hardship.

Fitted some alloy wheel nuts too. Epic weight saving. smile

So the shutter man is back on Friday so a final push should see the Lotus seat in the driver's side. The interior vacuumed out and the switches in.

Forgot to add that I've been really lucky with the colours of the two sets of Elise seats. These ones are a pretty good match in the flesh - the picture colouring isn't true. The ones in Samy were bob on to.

All alloy or do they have a steel thread insert?
The cooling system is working fine on the move. Its the annoyance of having a hole in the dash and the armchair still there.

They are steel alloy rather than ali alloy.

That's what I meant by 'mount'. There are three brackets in all so a bit of a pain. That said, I'll see how Friday goes.

The throttle linkage bearing now improved with a slightly longer buttonhead bolt. A couple of extra washers and proper engagement of the nyloc nut!

Parts didn't arrive so am free to concentrate on the circuit wink

On the plus side, the Reserve S was impeccable on the four hour ball ache of a 90-mile journey from London to Snetterton. Took three hours to get to the M25 and and hour to do the rest. The Reserve held steady temp, oil pressure and throttle smoothness. Was very wet. Looks dry for tomorrow though.

I have two sets of TVR seats. Both need / would benefit from refurbishment.

The Reserve ran great at Snetterton today.

I had a very good tussle with the black Seven in the photo above (with 111) on it. I was working very hard, I'm sure they were cruising.

One of the guys said my lights weren't working. Easy fix this time!



The Lotus seat makes a good helmet rack. The TVR seat offers somewhere for the sunglasses.



Wouldn't be a trackday without some duct tape.



Tyres held up well, few marbles though.



Now with matching seats;

Been a while since doing any work on the Reserve S. S Club Tour was brilliant and the car didn't miss a beat. Did ground out a lot which led to a hole in the silencer.

So, these were sourced, cleaned and fitted;


They were cleaned and treated to a covering of ACF-50 to help repel dirt and keep the threads clean;


Although they came from an S3 I can only think it was an off road version. I matched the settings as they were received and its a bit high;


They are a set of Gaz Gold Pros. 400lb springs front 325lb springs rear. Set to the hatdest damping setting, bit much for the road!

Got a few hours tomorrow so will see what I can get done to fix the exhaust.

Seemed to take a while to get through the jobs today.

Right, exhaust and manifolds off along with the alternator and driver's side rocker cover.





One issue did arise. Whilst taking the alternator bracket off, part of the block came off too. Hhmm not to sure how to deal with this. May just drill the thread out and use it as a spacer. Then slap a load of threadlock on the bolt.



Also did a couple of bits on Samy and Suni.

Manifolds are off to the ceramic coaters along with a couple of othe bits.

So, Monday week is a trackday at Bedford, that means next weekend the spare S3C manifolds and exhaust system needs to go on. If there's some time left I'll play with the suspension.

Looks like the rear brakes will need to wait until after the trackday.

Well following a very well attended Sausage Meet in Greenwich Park this morning I came back and cracked on with the Reserve.

Had planned to swap the engine mounts, spark plugs and remove the anacondas.

Well the engine mounts - including Burton's stainless mount supports - were progressing well. Less than an hour and passenger side done. Driver side stripped off quick. Doing it up though. An hour to fiddle the bottom nut on. Another hour and the engine bracket was finally on.

Got the passenger anaconda out too.

Spark plugs not done.

So, Sunday has a bit of a list;
1. Sparkplugs.
2. Exhaust manifolds.
3. Down pipes.
4. Alternator back on.
5. S3C exhaust fitted.
6. Fluid check ahead of Bedford trackday on Monday.

Does appear that the radiator has sprung a little leak. Nothing major but will keep an eye on it.

Will try and take some photos tomorrow.

All jobs except the fluid check done and dusted. Spare S3C manifolds, stainless decat pipes and stainless hockey sticks (picked up for a steal) all on. Samy's old exhaust bolted on. Now the noise is coming out the back rather than along its length.







Unfortunately, both the heads have casting damage - the alternator mount on the drivers side and one of the exhaust manifold mounts on the passenger side.

Oh well, we'll see what Wednesday brings wink

Was wet early on at Bedford today. Still managed a big lock up and bruised a tyre;

Wouldn't be a trackday without duct tape.



Was a good day.



Managed to set the ride height on the Gaz Gold Pros. 170mm front. 180mm rear. 400lb front 325lb rear springs. 12 clicks from soft. I think the damping could be a bit harder but at the moment I'm happy.

I did some stuff on Samy and then moved on to the Reserve.

The temp exhaust and manifolds were leaking slighly so nipped up the joints. Nothing I can do about the blow from the damaged head casting in the short term.

Measured up for the battery in the passenger footwell. Fits ok and still plenty of legroom. Need to make a shelf up and a plate for the ECU.

Then moved the expansion pot to the side of the swirl pot.

Off to Dan Taylor's on Thursday to replace the upper ball joints. Taking the steering rack off Samy just in case its that causing the shuddering.

Finally, added 2-clicks to the dampers and wound the front up one turn.

A couple of reasons. Firstly, the Elise seats give great legroom so there's some spare real estate. Secondly, nice and close to the starter so a short 25mm cable should be ample to spin the motor.

Next, I'm fitting an Odyssey PC925 battery which is very powerful but small.

Lastly, the fusebox area is a mess and needs expanding out to keep everything tidy. There's extra boxes there which need space too.

Not sure it would work with the original seats.

Dan Taylor's yesterday morning. Upper ball joints done on each side. Noticeable improvement.

Quick turn around and all looks well for Snetts on the 15th.

Well, almost.

Exhaust system has colapsed in side between the front silencer and the main box - its an S3C system. So the old one is going to my friendly garage on Monday for some welding. Will swap it out (again) next Friday.
