Hmm, Halfords eh....

Popped in today, now assuming the Escort pre-1990, then I think either sets 2 or 4 were the ones otherwise the post-1990 model was set 11. They all differed on the internal / number plate lights etc.

I went for set 4, assuming late 80's because the S was designed then, but until I try them...

Also picked up two H4 extra brights, as my headlights are about as useful as the way I glow after readybrek!

Methinks we ought to get a guide together, but to check all the bulbs in the kit is a pig of a job, but I reckon I might fit the extra brights one hung-over morning at Le Mans

Just had a look at the owners manual, and the only details there were the wattages of the bulbs, so we're probably looking at trial and error...

Hi there Mr Tripps. Did you ever find out if the bulb kit you purchased was the right one ? Come to think of it - don't suppose you've blown every bulb in the last month - doh !

The thing I'm wondering about is the bulbs really. I know it has H4's on the front and the rear bulbs are apparently from an Escort (pre 1990). But using halfords online catalogue, I can't make the kit number for that car match what tripps thought - could either be kit1 or kit4 can't tell which - hence why I was wondering if he'd had a chance to check them.

Nah, alas no blow-outs in the last month. Although I did fit some of the extra-brights (50% extra it says on the pack) and they are so bright I can now drive at Nissan Micra speed with confidence at night, rather than the rather limiting previous Morris Minor speed!

I went for Pack 1 in the end - according to the instore guide - Packs 4 & 1 are pretty much interchangeable for Escort's 1980 - 1990. Pack 1 also includes an H4 bulb so it's almost a one stop shop. Haven't got the other indicator bulb yet - off a Leyland ?!
