Better to get the correct clutch to start with than have to take off the flywheel and have it machined!

Graham

TVR stuck with the type Nine gearbox rather than change to the MT 75 as the type Nine had lower gearing so sharper acceleration while Ford use the MT75 with the 2.9 engine. However I understand that some S's have been retro fitted with the MT75.
So as usual with TVR the only rule is that there are exceptions

My box came out for a rebuild and even once done there was a small amount of play in the input shaft (quite a bit before as the box was shagged). I assume the spigot bearing is designed to hold it still.
You will need two people to get the box back in really because you MUSTN'T put too much strain on the input shaft and it is a real bugger to line up. The way I did it was to have one person each side of the car with one holding the weight of the box and the other manoeuvring it into position and sliding the input shaft through the clutch and into the spigot bearing (getting it in the spigot bearing being the hard part due to chassis proximity to box webs and freedom of movement)
Good luck
Mark

Hi Andy, was more than happy to stop and check you're Ok at Ashby, just thankful it wasn't an accident like I first thought
You've done a great job sorting her out, even better you made it in time for today -well done!
Good to catch up today. Not sure if I can make Tuesday (Ashby again) due to domestics, there's also a new one starting at the Ox on the A46 Thursday, see the Midlands thread. It'll be early days for that one but they have to start somewhere

Thanks for the advice at SCH box is now out, don't know how you managed it on your own it was a bugger with two of us. Do you have the part No's for your replacement clutch and spiggot bearing (is the bearing a Ford only part). Bearing puller worked a treat.
PS I now know what you meant about the webs on the box.
Thanks
Tony

Hello Tony
Nice to meet you at SCH,glad to hear the box is out and the puller worked.
The clutch came as a three part kit,
QH
QKT 2030AF
Other numbers/letters on the box were Eqiv MHK 52030.
The spigot bearing is
Still not quite sure how I did get the box out on my own,but I think my adjustable beer belly helped
Good luck getting it all back together. Just make sure you compare clutches the first two offered to me were slightly different to the one I had.
Cheers Andy
