Just out of curiosity Podie, what octane were you running when they set it up?

Using 97... always have done in the S. Used 95 once (prior to the ECU jobbie) and it pinked a bit, but was always fine on 97.

For the record, having been set up on 97, I was advised to make sure I stuck with it.

I was curious as to wether or not you would take it there full of overpriced Optimax. Mine only runs well on the 95 and due to it being an every day car, I would have to stick with 95 if I took it to Austec.

Before you say it, it's not that I'm particularly tight , but living out here a car is as essential as oxygen. To give you some idea, I, of course, have the S, getting around 28 - 30mpg, Di has a Golf TDI, 45mpg, and our fuel bill per month is around £275

Mine is a second car... and I run it on BP 97 as round where I live and work, that's what's most easily available.

Congrats on the upgrade, ive been following your progress with interest. I'm now going to pop in to Austec this week for a chat about what i can do with mine (after i get paid of course).

Living in Northants i wasnt sure where to take it but your experience has made me consider it worthwhile to travel the distance. I'm down there on work this week so shall pop in & see them

Thanks for your report. I for one have got alot out of it

Giles, glad it was of some use..

In fact, I'm just in the process of speaking to the guys at Austec to replace my manifolds... and I'm going to remind Paul that he said he'd just finish off the tuning...

Such a good write up, is it worth a slot in the S-series web site?
