My V8S restoration project
Discussion
Hi All,
What started out as a couple of small electrical niggles kind of ballooned into something else !
Well it's been going since March but my baby is finally starting to come together. Mike has been doing the most superb job for me and the chassis has just been returned from a sand blasting and powder coating.
Starting to see light at the end of the tunnel and cannot wait to have it back.
I know many of you have the time, ability and space to do this work yourselves and for that I commend you. Just not in that fortunate situation but don't hate me for it !
Here's a link to the progress on the car and also some photos of the chassis returned today:

I'll update more as the project nears completion.
All the best
Stuart

Well done looking really good so far. You must paint the chassis red or some other bright colour, it makes it so much easier to inspect in the future.
Mines bright red and thats on a chimaera.
Oops ! Well given that it just came back from the paintshop, it's a bit late for a colour change ! Anyway, very happy with satin black as I like the understatement (if that is it all possible with a TVR?), and really hopeful that there won't be need for detailed inspection once it's back together, at least not for quite some time ;-)Mines bright red and thats on a chimaera.

Well at least with satin black there won't be any oil leaks showing in your engine bay :-)Some progress to report. Engine and gearbox are back in the car. Yesterday I helped mike put fuel and brake lines back on the chassis:

Interior will be largely unchanged although I cannot decide whether to replace the seats with Griff seats I've bought, which would need recovering. Here's the existing interior:

What do people think about switching the seats - here are the ones I bought:

Next are the brakes, which will be EBC upgrades, and soon the body will go back on.[url]
And then we'll be back on the road - has been a looong haul but I hope worthwhle. That said, she wasn't too shoddy before I started !

Stuart, did you fit the Chim ones and how easy was it? I’m looking at these at the moment and wondering what to do. The lumbar support looks attractive.

Alternatively, if you do fit the Chim ones, let me know if you want to sell on your old V8S ones.

Hi Joe
I will definitely be fitting the Chim/Griff ones, although not certain the pair I bought have additional lumber supports. I was told they're a straight swap. I take the point on the headrests but overall I think it's a better more contoured seat.
I'm going to have an interior retrim by Barton & Co in Luton and get them done / fitted at the same time.
I'm sure we can do a deal on my existing seats if you fancy them - they're grey though and I seem to recall your interior's red? I reckon my old seats will be available towards the end of the year.

My interior is red so I’d be looking to have them recovered. If yours are in very good condition maybe we could do a three way deal with someone out there would like your grey ones and I’ll take their old ones to renovate. It would be a shame to strip yours down if they are in good condition.
Timing works for me as I haven't got anywhere to store them at the moment.

wow, that car is going to be better then new, very nice to see.
Jeez, that's practically a work of art! I was impressed with Simon's car (TVR 23) at S Club this weekend, but this raises the bar again. Tinks, you'll need to do some serious polishing to get your 'best V8' crown back again!!

Donny's right, she's / he's a stunning piece of work.
Was TVR23's year this year sure it may be a n others next year.
I'm just glad to see our V8S's and other S's are being given the
love and attention they really deserve.
Keep up the good work Stuart.
