Does anyone know what the free (uncompressed) length of the rear springs is? I'm thinking here about new ones. Thanks in advance.

Mine are 8 inches long. They are fine on height-adjustable dampers.

That's odd; my rears are 9" under load. My front's are 8" under load.

With adjustables the free length isn't so critical because you have a large range of adjustment with the spring seat to get the ride height correct. The springs on my AVO dampers are far shorter than the original Koni springs. Phillpot Mike had a problem with rear springs being too long on these. The poundage of the springs is important though.

with around 250kg per corner, their free length will be another inch or two longer, depending on the spring rate and the spring/wheel rate ratio.

Looking back, my original weedy 300lb/inch Gaz rear springs were 9inch free length. As you go up in spring rate you can come down in free length because they compress less when fitted, although as Turbo (hello Tony wavey) and I said above, with adjustable spring seats the free length isn't critical as long as they are long enough to avoid coil binding under peak load.

If you have original springs and dampers the springs are a lot longer than the type that go on gaz avo etc dampers.
IMHO originals not worth messing with at 20 years plus they will be well past their best.

Where would I source some new springs to fit the original dampers and any idea what the original spring rates were?

Original springs I don't think are available. Your original shocks will be well past their sell by date is what I meant.

I contacted a Koni refurbisher about my originsl set I sent you a picture of Joe.

They said £60 a corner to refurb the Dampers and £40 for the Springs or to make new ones.
So pair of springs £80 I suppose.
