Hi, all you lucky Euro-trekkers,
I’m quite disappointed not to have a Mainland trip this year, as the S3 has been running great since fixing some stuff following my SpaWars adventure (a cloud of smoke following us everywhere).
Maybe next time…and possibly get on the track too.

Anyhow, this piece of kit was made available to me last year in the Hotel Verviers car park....
It was a great help for a short time - until the starter motor gave out completely... On return to Blighty and fitting a new starter, I continued to use what became known as the ‘Maffe Button’ .
It’s now been replaced with a permanent push to start button. So happy to pass it back to be available to the S-team just in case someone else has similar starting troubles.
If someone would PM me with an address I’ll post on to you to put in the spares bag.

Regards to all – good luck and have a great tour.

OK Steve, YHM.

I've been seduced by the glossy ad.
I'll volunteer myself, but does it come with instructions in English or Swedish?

wink

I still have the spare water pump which was so useful last time. I'm also not going so if anyone wants to arrange to get it let me know - bit heavy for post though

It's ok Ray, I'm bringing a spare w/pump, but can anyone tell me if the 2.8 & 2.9 water pumps are the same?

Selfishly, I've only got a 2.8 pump ( I think! ).

Hmm, start button, like this one, here in silver. Purchased at merlin Motorsport at Castle Combe, fitted in about 15 minutes, a nice little gadget.

back to buttons... I shall get it in the post to you Glen, soon as able – this week sometime. Thanks again for the loan Maffe.

My replacement button has taken on a avionics theme – it is an engine start form a Spitfire/ Lancaster bomber, complete with safety flap! ( I omitted the Merlin engine, for now anyway ).
The button was a perfect fit into the hole provided for the 12V cig lighter socket and sits quite flat. I never liked the position of the 12Voutlet with a tomtom plug poking in the side of my knee...
I didn’t loose the 12V outlet – I discovered there was another hole pre made on the passenger side (for left hand drive I guess) hidden under the fabric, and with a bit of bodgery now have a more user friendly layout. Happy days.

I would have considered it, but the date clashes with another commitment so was always a non-starter for me. I have tried to get to everything else!

Only teasing Ray, your committment to the S cause is awesome considering the distance you have to travel. Good on yer, mate! thumbup

Steve, that Spitfire/ Lancaster eng. start button is pure porn. Hope you didn't raid the Battle of Britain Flight's stores.

Do you want me to return the Maffe Button to the Instigator?
Be sure I'll be buying him a drink when we meet up, or maybe a few if he remembers to bring the fuel pump relay & steering column plastic shroud he promised me ages ago. wink

Not long now folks!
So much to do, so little time........
