I'm having some issues with my passanger window, going up part way stopping, and a loud clicking sound ensuing but if you pull the windows up off it gors again. Adrian at Exactly TVR thinks its the regulator (wire thing) looking around for a possible replacement I have found the following company who will recondition the mechanism. I have no idea is they are any good as I've not used them as yet but I thought I would post details in case anyone is desperate or possibly lives close to them and could do a little investigating.

We can recondition your old mechanism within 2-3 working days and offer:
(12 months guarantee)
The cost is -£85-125

Delivery -£12
For accounting purposes do not include any notes with the box
or the mechanism simply insert a note with return address in an

I'm not to far away from Blackburn and have a few friends in the motor trade in that area, I will have a word with them and see if they know the company. Interestingly 0161 is a Manchester STD code, Blackburn is 01254. Sounds as though the Blackburn adress is the reconditioner and the Manchester firm maybe charging an inflated price as a middle man.

Might sound stupid but on sorting out my widows recently i unbolted the bottom channel the glass pushes into that is attached to the window lifter. When i bolted it back up again i put the bolts the wrong way around and found there was a longer one bolt and it caught on a metal motor support and stopped the window rising! Doesnt sound like the same problem but who knows?

OK ....There are 4 different door lift units, S1 run as a bowden cable set-up that then could have a electric motor fitted in place of the winder handle, (which gave the factory a option to have electric windows) this appears to be from a Renault circa 1985 ish ...I only say this as the development guy who I spoke to and was delivered a pair of doors to move the car away from using that unit to a bespoke TVR part said so! BUT in the meantime the cars were fitted with the obsolete Rockwell Golde cable units (this unit has a single sleeved but open tube that Golde cable runs into a plastic motor housing and the motor presses directly using 3 barbed fingers, where IF the window stuck the motor jumped out of the housing and fell to the door bottom! the factory/service mod was to ty-rap the motor into the housing. At this point (during the S2 era) TVR externally sourced the whole regulator assembly which ran until 2006 in all cars, this runs a Golde cable system (as the Rockwell system) along with a Bosch motor and has separate slider that keeps the window level (other TVR models have a limit stop that is adjustable with a screw driver from the inside of the door trim) on all S version the limit stop is the door frame which can be packed with rubber blocks as required), this unit can be retrofitted to the S, not an easy job, but it can be done!
Norman, I am now can supply a Golde cable to repair yours, give me a call. and am stocking the later bosch motor for R/H and L/H sides.
