Booked the S in for an ECU jobbie at Austec!

The old girl is booked in for a new ECU and remap and rolling road jobbie at Austec Racing on 29th of this month!!!
Which means, she'll be fully sorted for BTaP!!!!
Big thanks to Mike and Paul for all their time, explanations and sorting out dates. If their work is as good as their customer service, my £480 + VAT is going to be money well spent.

S3c was never particularly well setup anyway... but rolling road before AND after, so will have some pretty graphs for "show and tell".
To be honest I'm after "real world" driving improvements... so hopefully a flatter torque curve, rather than more peaky (unuseable) power...
Should be good though... will go down there with the digicam and a notebook so I can write a "report"...

Now why would you connect me with that topic?
I have actually had some good emails from RO's and Steve Heath since the Sprint thread.
Im glad there were some people that took my critisim the right way.
I really wasnt complaining!
Would make an excellent article though Podie. You could probably even put a draft through the new technical editor for error checking.

Having spoken to the guys at Austec, they've only ever done one other S (anyone here?), but there seems to be a fair bit of interest generally...
I'll take my camera for some pics, and write a report of what they do, and the explanations they give me. Mike at Austec seemed quite happy with this (free advertising basically!) so doubt it would need to be checked by a techical editor, but think I'll give them the courtesy of reading it before I submit it too Sprint.
Hi Podie
Did they give you any idea as to expected gains or what they got from the other S? Can't say as any small gains in bhp would concern me much, but, like yourself, I would be interested in any torque increases or curve changes. I figure that there should be some extra available, after all isn't that how TVR got the extra torque from the S3C ECU, as opposed to the S2 and S3's, for the same bhp?
Best of luck.

I was asked what I wanted... and as mentioned below I said that I wanted more torque if possible for "real world" driving. As a worst case scenario, they reckoned I'd have a flatter torque curve, even if there were no gains.
They didn't want to make any claims, as "each car is different" but I suppose I'd expect around 10bhp and maybe a similar amount of torque increase (percentage wise).
The S3c had a bit more torque anyway, although I was always under the beleif that was due to a different ECU programme, but judging from what I've got from Ford, the ECU's are pretty similar... just the "c" cars have lambda sensors, so measure things in a different way..?!!? (I'm sure someone who knows more will correct me here).
I suppose I'm taking a bit of a risk, given that I have nothing concrete, but someone has to be the first to dip their toe into the water... this time it seems to be me...!!!
It'll be interesting to see how the whole thing goes to be honest.. at least the air should be nice and cool at this time of year...!
Keep your eyes peeled for an update in the evening of the 29th...

As the de-catted S3C's do not strictly use the lambda sensor and, IIRC, have the more reliable MAP sensor, would not a good upgrade for the pre-cats be to fit an S3C ECU and MAP sensor, I wonder. Only problem being how easy is it to fit the MAP sensor. Could the old manifold be modded ok or would it need to be changed to an S3C version?
And you might want to "increase security" around your newly modded ECU too. Let's face it they are not the hardest of things to pinch, and not all that read these threads may be as upstanding as you and I..............well you anyway, I'd have it away first chance I got
