Power Boost Valve
Discussion
Morning Richard
I'm working on it, but the camera here doesn't have macro capabilities so you may not see a lot.
Just one thing though, and this confused me for a while, the kit includes two spacer bushes. You do not need them, so don't spend any time trying to work out where they go.
I'll mail you when I have some thing decent.

Andy, thanks great pics, and things look much better knowing that those darn spacers arent needed. ![]()

Sorry, should have thought to mention them earlier. If you feel the need to adjust the valve (and who wouldn't), then I found that a quarter turn clockwise was as far as I could go before I started to get overfuelling (hunts a bit when you floor it in 4 and 5, especially from low revs). It eventually settled at a bit less than a quarter in, about 10 minutes to use the clock face analogy. Less than that resulted in a lack of fuel at high speed (hunting again). It will undoubtedly be different for each engine, but it may be of some help.

Hmm, my fuel regulator looks nothing like that, and its mounted horizontally!
Edited to say that is is the 2.9 aswell.

There are 2 versions, the vertical one, as above, is the "vertical bolt" version and the horizontal one, as you have, is the "horizontal bolt" version. Sadly your's is £25 dearer.

Fitted an FSE power boost valve (see pic). Its different arrangement to Andy007, as mine is a 1989 S1.5 with 2.9 engine - TVR must have changed the fuel rail in the S2/3's.
Still, discussed the correct valve with FSE Tech Dept and was reassured that I have the correct one fitted; that is the type with vertical entry to the fuel rail and vertical mounting bolts for 69 quid. There is another, but can't work out why. Andy007 has fitted the same vlave as mine to his later S model (with the horizontal entry to the fuel rail and horizontal mounting bolts - simply by rotating it thru 90degs.
Andy is checking it out with FSE just to be sure.
Must say tho, that I highly recommend one of these; the throttle response is SOOO much better, and with a noticably better acceleration (smoother and quicker) above 3000 rpm. Also made the car much more smooth to drive in traffic (stop/start stuff). For 69 quid inc VAT you cant grumble. Fitting took me about 20 mins too - dead easy.
Here's
to FSE!

Roy, I beleive that mine is the correct type for our age of engine; Andy's might be the wrong one, but he fitted it OK all the same. Tech Dept. at FSE said something about the 93 quid version was neccessary to prevent over entry (que Podie for a knob gag!!
) into the fuel rail - but best speak to Andy on that.

Over entry...
.. sorry I'm late! So which one do I need for mine then...? - and where's cheapest?!!
I think the type needed depends on the type of fuel rail.
There are 2 types - A presses steel type and a cast type (As Andyf007's by the look of it). the cast one is thicker (IIRC the plenum chamber on the later version is slightly lower in construction about 3/4 inch'ish).
I had trouble with the fuel rail on my 2.9 - it was an early pressed type which developed a couple of holes!, and had to have it changed to the later version. Took the guys at David Geralds over a week to sort out as the older type is no longer available and there was some confusion over injectors and plenums (as the new lower plenum is not available! - you can get the old plenum and new rail.... ford don't you just love 'em
?).
Not sure if this helps or is totally right - I'm sure someone else will know though.

Mine is the wrong one, but luckily the 90 degree fitting on the return pipe enabled it to fit. There are 2 versions, vertical bolt and horizontal bolt. I should have got the horizontal bolt (c. £20 dearer). It will depend on which direction the bracket fixing bolts go, as you can just see, the bolt head on mine goes horizontal.
I got mine from www.motorsportworld.co.uk, they list TVR for some parts.

All now becomes clear.... (sort of!) so its not the orientation of the boost valve, but the fixing bolt that is refered to in the 'horizontal or vertical' reference.
Makes sense.... ?

Yep, £108 inc delivery. It should be good enough for what you want though, it's the same part no. as the 4.5 Cerbera one.
You can get it from FSE direct, or a couple of other places, including demon tweeks, but they all appear to be the same price.
Andy
You got a contact for FSE..?
