S Series Petrol Filler Caps !!!!!!
Discussion
I met up with Mick Gaughran at the classic car show, he is involved in the Scimitar SE6 and Middlebridge Scimitar http://middlebridge-scimitar.co.uk. He is possinly interested in getting some new filler caps manufactured in stainless steel in India and thinks, as I do, that there is synergy in the S forum working with the Middlebridge/Scimitar owners as their cars use the TVR S series Petrol Filler Caps. (They did buy the last remaining suppies from TVR Car Parts/David Geralds some time ago)
If you look at the Middlebride site above you will see they are already producing S/S componants from India so this wouldnt be a new venture!!
I know the question will be 'how much' but we can't get to that until we know 'how many' so we all (me included) have to say if we are interested (subject to being happy with the price) to get some idea of cost with cooperating with the scimitar boys.
So lets try to move forward and come up with an indication of numbers - DONT FORGET YOUR ARE NOT COMMITTING YOURSELF YET - if you MIGHT be interested please either commit yourself here or send me a PM.
If the cost is too high when we get a proper quote you can pull out (assuming the whole thing dosent fall appart)
Last thought this could lead on for us to get things like S/S swirl pots or petrol tanks at reasonable cost, but thats for the future.
I WANT ONE HOW ABOUT YOU???

My gut reaction would be whole thing what do you think?
If you were planning to have the filler neck manufactured I imagine that would bump the cost up substantially. I've got one of those in a dusty box somewhere, must dig it out later in the week and see how easy it would be to remove/replace the lid. I wouldn't expect it to be hard, presumable there's a pivot pin of some sort but it's been so many years since I saw one I honestly can't remember.Hmmm. It would need to be the cap and the mounting ring, because the mounting ring is visible behind the hinge. That doesn't look as if it would be easy to make in small quantities so I'm not optimistic that it will be cost effective compared to getting the top surface re-chromed. Will be interesting to see what price your supplier quotes, anyway.
